    Gents,
I've got several piercings; my nipples and a frenulum piercing. I belong to a family gym which is associated with the local high school and they hold all manner of classes for adults and kids (all the way down to toddlers) there. In the past I've always taken my nipple rings out before going to the gym, but leave my dick ring in. The frenulum ring isn't all that large or noticeable unless you're really looking for it, so I figure, if you're looking.....

At any rate, I've recently started to reconsider the fact that I take the nipple rings out. Yes, I'm a slight exhibitionist, but more than that I'm a person who likes to think and act outside of the box and challenge others to do the same. No, I'm not out to offend, but more to make people think about the way they think, if you follow my reasoning.

Here's my quandry: Should I take them out or leave them in? I often swim so the pierced nipples would be visible to both men and women and children of all ages. I'm on good terms with all of the staff there (many of whom are high schoolers working for the school district and who, themselves, sport lots of facial and ear piercings), but my main question for all you valued readers is, is this going just a bit too far? Should I respect what appears to be the current value system (no pierced nips to be seen) or should I challenge it? What sayest thou, oh wise ones?

I work out at the local university I used to attend, plenty of the students wear nipple rings, I don't think it is so unusual now. Younger kids use the pool and play hockey there.

    i say no.
i also have pierced nips and a frenum (self done, but i am an amateur taught by a licensed piercer and a surgeon, so i'm not that bad)
and though i hate my body right now, i would say you shouldn't have to take them out.
First of all, if i took my piercings out everytime i noticed someone was offended, i would spend at least an hour per day removing and reinserting my earings and things (i have 13-14 piercings none on my face, just ears and nips and frenum),
    but seriously
it's just another form of jewelry.
you don't ask people to COVER up their tattoos while they're at the gym. it may offend people, it may turn people on, whatever. go for it, and would love to see yours sometime.

I never took out my nipple piercings for anyone.. being allergic to metal is something else I tell you... and my body would take any opertunity to mess them up on me...

I forget how many members we had at the one particular gym... but it consisted of young and old. It isn't up to you to judge what people find offensive, live your life and don't be afraid to be unique. Let those beauties be shown.

If you are doing it just to shock people, then I would question your motives. But if you wear your piercings on a daily basis, then leave them in. Pierced nips, while not exactly common, aren't unheard of either, although a pierced dick will probably cause some double takes in the shower.
I think the high school students can handle it. As far as any younger kids in the locker room, well, it is YOUR body, and you shouldn't feel the need to hide anything.

Oh hell yeah, leave them in. Do other people remove their piercings before working-out?

Leave them in....I have vert and horizontal in both nips, as well as a bunch of genital. I do not take them out for several reasons...my bod, I will decorate it as I see fit, I paid good money, mine, to get them done and do not see it necessary to take them out for anyone. I will tell you something really disgusting at my gym, also a family gym. What some of us refer to as the Walrus Club....fat old women in bathing suits, some of them..... Our Y has a limit on how many of them can get in the whirlpool....10, otherwise there is too much overflow.

Just find out if the gym has a policy on it. I used to go to a nude hot spring. They had one major restriction on attire. No genital piercings were allowed.

I'd check to see if there is a poicy in place about piercings at the gym, but if not, keep them in. The kids aren't going to care except to be mildly interested, and how their parents react to their childrens' interest is their problem, not yours.

I think jewelry is a rather ridiculous thing to get up in arms about.

As long as if you go swimming you don't try to go on a water slide... they generally don't allow jewellery on those :-D

I have had 3 cm diameter, 4 mm thick steel nipple rings for 15 years, as well as two smaller rings, 1 on either side of my scrotum, and a solid silver cock ring, and an ampallang. I got them all done at the same time, and have never wanted more or less. That is that configuration that constitutes my personally satisfying aesthetic. They are part of my personal identity and self expression.

The ampallange doesn't show because my foreskiv covers it. I have been going to gyms reglarly for 10 years. I have never taken out my peircings except once when asked to do so by a surgeon.

Nobody at any of the many gyms that I have been a member of over the years has ever reacted in a negative way to my piercings that I am aware of. There have been very few comments at all even though I generally talk to people in the changing room, regardless of whether I am covered or not.

Kids do stare, but usually with a look of wonderment and curiosity, I've never seen them giggling.

Piecings can be erotic as well as easthetic and expressive, mine are all three. They heighten sensation during sex, they look great, and they show me as an individual who doesn't dance to conformist, conservative or reactionary drumsbeats.

Possilby you are uncomfortable about revealing your piercings in a public changing room or on a beach (particulary where children are present) because of their erotic aspect.

Although cocks and balls have an erotic aspect, as do unpeirced nipples, indeed any erogenous zone, that doesn't mean that they are necessarily sexual or erotic in every situation. They also have functional and identity aspects. This is tacitly understood by most people, though few question the limits and inconsistency of which situations are which.

For some strange reason in most cultures it is accepted that mens nipples be displayed but not womens. (though on Bali you still see remnants of bare breasted culture for women - 60+ year old women who work the fields bare chested.)

Piercings like any jewelry highlights and focuses the attention of the onlooker. People's gaze will automatically be drawn to your nipples, that is psychosensory fact. I wonder if perhaps that is not more of the issue for you rather than you not wanting to offend people. I would guess that you are uncomfortable about being looked at. Perhaps I'm wrong, but at least consider that possibility.

I say that you should work towards feeling confident and comfortable with keeping your piecings in as part of your identity. If the gym don't like who you are, find another gym.

Of course I would always respect the culture and limits of where you are at... I never can understand why some people need to confront or shock others who are doing them no harm...but I think you are over thinking this one. nipple piercings are kindof common anymore. are you more worried about offending others, or of what people will think of you? either way..you have to do what you think is right in the situation. a few years back I belonged to a gym that was owned and run by a fairly famous hockey player and was for men only. I had/have a pa piercing that is fairly large..0g. I used to take it out before working out because it was uncomfortable in my jock. once or twice I forget to do this ahead of time and had it in. in the lockerroom, whirpool, sauna and pool I got a ton of looks and more than a few comments/questions about it from the men there. now not everyone thought it was great, or wanted one themselves, but really no one thought worse of me beacuse of it..it just wasn't for them. guess I'm trying to say is be comfortable being who you are.

Definately leave them in! You paid good (alot of ) money for them and I think its pretty common to see men with piercings. Mr Ed has an Og PA
and a 4g frenum plus 2 nipple done. When we first showed up a camp (nudist) people were staring, most accepted that its a personal choice
for us and now there are several people who are pierced! We have heard only one negative comment by day trippers, (OMG! look at those disgusting tattoos and piercings!) But they are not are friends nor are they anybody who matters to us. Do what is best for your peace of mind.
    Ciao,

Both nips are double pierced and I have a 2Ga PA. I walk to the sauna and showers nude and have never removed my rings. If people don't like them they can look the other way.

I've got a 4 gauge PA and used to have my left nipple pierced (and will again next week) and never took the piercings out. No one has ever commented on the piercings to me and I used to work out at the local Y - I know some guys saw the piercings in the locker room and in the shower. The only thing I ever did here them comment about were the high school boys that would take too much time in the showers because they were shaving their bodies - go figure.

Leave them in. It is who you are. It is what it is.

Oh, and send photos, man - they sound great! :)

There's a guy at my gym with a very long cock and a big piercing on his knob. He always gets stares in the showers, not least cos of his length, but the piercing certainly adds something...
