He doesn't lecture anymore. It was a part time thing while he was doing his phd.

That's why it was stupid to call him a "professor". He was a mere teaching assistant, a lecturer as best. And they (including professors) in the UK are very very poorly paid. Laughably so. Hence his need for whoring.

This is correct, I work at the university. If he was teaching during his PhD, he was a teaching assistant (or at best a lecturer). To be able to get an assistant professor position in a US university you need to have a PhD degree first. It is not easy, very competitive and demanding once you get it.
