I'll bet the folks out on the front lines of the protest are also the same people who oppose offshore drilling, fracking and us being hostage to foreign sources of energy.
Foreign companies are threatening the use of eminent domain to take land from Americans to build it...
The potential for the polluting of an aquifer that provides water to 1/3 of the mid west. BTW that's where you get your corn and wheat from.
Yup. It's damn stupid and filthy when we have all the alternatives so handy for developing. Fossil fuels are so last century.
So stop riding in any type transportation, start hoofing your fat ass around then come back and tell me how last century fossil fuels are.
Much better polluting other countries aquifers! I mean fuck them, right? Where they get their food from, who cares? Not my back yard!
Not good for western economies... Lets try it with gene manipulated bio-fuel... Way better and at the end less expensive
but the point is, it doesn't have to be generated that way at all. There are viable and much less messy solutions. Methane from pig shit?
the problem with the encased pipe thing is all pipelines leak which is less of a problem in lets say an arid desert nation that has to import 97% of its food but not so much when its leaking over prime farmland and eventually feeding into an aquifer that is taped to water 1/4 of the nations crops
American companies use imminent domain to take land from american citizens every day of the year. They claim to pay market value but that is a joke. I've been through it for the building of I-40, gas wells and pipelines. (For the record, I favor the current pipeline, fracking and offshore drilling).
So they cheat on americans... Yeah thats what they do in foreign countries also... So what? And when the pipes are leaking get sure it wount... And it doesnt make a big differenc if it leaks in a desert or on farmland... Useually every land get used by someone. Just cause you dont notice it isnt that it didnt happen... So again get sure that your companies work right everywhere in generall and then you will have less problems in your own countrie... Companies get used to act bad at home when you allow them to do what ever they want abroad... And im not a fan of fracking... There are so many alternatives to gas and oil
Me--Texas Land off a zillion miles of transmission pipelines--- leaks fixed promptly loss of product and we are not even talking about natural gas pipelines which tend to explode in allowed to go unrepaired. Brenham, Texas where they tried to blow up half of Washington county from a natural gas pipeline leak. I'm not saying they don't leak on occasion but the pipeline companies have large crews that do nothing but monitor the lines.
