Unfortunately, that story isn't made-up. Goddamn...
That's really fucked up....WOW
Pit bull owners always seem so puzzled and surprised when their dog hurts someone.
Gee, I hope that doesn't happen the next time a two-year-old gets left alone with a pittbull. Sheez.
Well I would never turn my back on a Pit Bull although that wasn't the rationale. At least the owners are not whining about how it's really so sweet and wouldn't hurt anything and it's forgiven....
I doubt the dog could ever be trusted again, and what on earth is a 'behavioural expert' going to do, sit it down with a coffee, some smokes and ask it about it's sexual preferences?
I would never mistreat an animal and for the most part I think pets are fine but overly sentimentalising them is at best a hiding to disappointment and at worst to invite death or serious injury. I have no idea why people do it, or have Pit Bulls as pets for that matter.
"Eggert told us the boy's family members and neighbors had to beat the dog to get it off"
sorry, its terrible..
According to the article, there were no bites on the boy and the pit bull wasn't trying to hurt him, only have sex with him and to the dog that was normal if the right scent was there.
For future reference, I hope they can determine what scent was on the boy that caused the pit bull to go into the mating mood. In dogs it is a scent.
The article suggested some scent in the diaper. I wonder if it was the right time of the month for the mother and that scent set the dog off or maybe the boy had been playing with another dog that was in heat.
Since a scent is what causes male dogs to go into the mating mood, i hope they figure it out.
I wonder if another breed of dog would have done the same thing under exactly the same circumstances?
If it is something specific to bit pulls then we have no choice but outlaw them in homes with children.
At least I hope that is true. I would hate to think people would put the interest of dogs and their owners over the interest of children.
Yup, Pit Bulls, Rotweilers, and years ago Dobermans were known for going berzerk and attacking people for what appeared to be no reason at all.
Be on the look out in the next few years for Cane Corso's to be added to this sad list. I have heard of a number of people cross breeding them with Pit Bulls and Rottweilers in hopes of getting a better attack/watch dog.
My prayers are with that poor child and his family. I am guessing both will need much therapy in the future.
Sadly, I am rarely surprised by the actions of fanatics anymore.
"I guess the message is to be respectful of a dog, until you absolutely know the animal."
What the fuck is that supposed to mean? Be respectful of? More like distrust.
Intentionally or not, the dog did a very bad thing. As soon as the investigation is over the owners have every right to have it destroyed. Fuck PETA or any other whacko's who think different.
On the other hand he might fetch a good price in Enumclaw.
Maybe the mother has trained the dog well LOL
oh man, you are a sick funnyass motherfuckin' puppy
Yeah, they should really be outlawed
The family wants the dog put down. Investigators want a dog psychotherapist to figure out why the dog raped the kid.
Justice is strange.
Behave, DJG, or I'm coming over with Hootie, my pitbull ... and his inamorata's distressed diaper.
they want to make sure that the dog wasn't trained to do this, that it wasn't some sick, deliberate, pedo/bestiality porn attempt gone wrong.
As opposed to a sick, deliberate pedo/bestiality porn attempt gone right?
Kowingly leaving an infant or toddler unattended in the presence of a dog, be it a Doberman or a Chihuahua, is child neglect. I love dogs but they can be unpredictable and small children are just too vulnerable.
That's why you watch your kids around any animal that could potentially hurt them when the children are still that young. Dogs have a tendency to hump (even female dogs) everybody knows that. This dog just happened to hump the kid while he had no clothes covering him I guess. They are acting as if the dog is a pedophile or something. I think the parents are more to blame than the dog. The dog was doing something that all dogs do, try to have sex with something. Years ago I had a dog that liked to hump pillows, they don't always just go for other dogs. In order to have a dog you should know they are not the most civilized creatures and you must watch them a good bit to make sure they are not doing something they shouldn't be doing. Especially if they are around your children. I also don't think this happened just because the dog was a pit bull. It could have happened with any kind of dog that was significantly bigger than the child.
This is a no win debate. Those that do not know the breed will convict it based on the bad publicity. Those that know the breed know that the majority of attacks are the fault of an ignorant owner. I have had literally dozens of pits (rescues), and have only had to put down one due to a lack of trust.
Besides folks, this was NOT an attack. The result and effects were certainly more disasterous, but the actual act was no more different than a dog humping a leg, which people usually laugh at because there is not threat of injury. Unfortunately, this was a 50-70lb animal and a 20-30lb toddler. It was a horrible incident, I agree, but there was no malice on the dogs part.
Incidentally, nor did I see where the family had "left" the child alone. We all step out of room for a minute or two. The dog could have originally been in another room, or any of number of possibilities.
All animals express their sexual energy in odd ways including humping other species of animals. For them it does not have the same reasoning behind it, as it does for us.
Pit bulls are the weirdest breed. Maybe they should all be put down.
