Tough break for Giants fans. Wife-beater Plax Burress was out gangbanging at a club and shot himself in the leg with a gun that may be unregistered. Also, his permit to carry a concealed weapon is expired.

This could be the end of his career with the Giants.

I don't follow sports at all but, from what I see this can only serve to inhance his career. The rules don't apply the same to regular citizens as they do to sports figures. Sad.

I just read your post again and have to comment on your first two words. Why is it a tough break? He did it to himself. He is responsible. A tough break would have been if he had been standing next to someone and their gun went off and shot him in the leg causing him to be out for the rest of the season or finishing his career. He now has to face reality and the responsibility of his actions, just like the rest of the peons.

Then you truly don't follow sports all that much. The NFL has gotten much harsher with off-field antics. Chris Henry, Adam 'Pacman' Jones, Michael Vick, Tank Johnson, Cedric Benson...all have served significant suspensions or been cut outright by either the NFL or their respective teams. "Character" has become the buzzword for the league, and the commissioner, Roger Godell, takes it very seriously.

Read it again; it's a tough break FOR GIANTS FANS, not for Plax. Any team that loses its number 1 receiver, no matter the reason, will find winning games tougher (in theory).

That point is arguable, tho, since Plax has been largely silent this year and the Giants STILL have a 10-1 record. The Giants can win without him because they have the most dominant lines in football -- offensive and defensive. In fact, I would think that this is a blessing in disguise for the Giants, since they love Hixon (who is a pretty good Plax substitute) and Plax has been nothing but a distraction since, like, ever.

Much like Chris Henry of the Bengals, Burress is simply a criminal that happens to be a good football player. Goodell is working diligently to remove these gangsters from the league.

Now if only the NBA would start pruning the weeds as well.

im a Giants fan, and i think this will barely effect (affect?) the team...plax had only 4 TDs, hell Kevin Boss has 5...Toomer has 3, and a bunch of guys have 1 or 2...Eli has been spreading the ball around a lot, and its clearly working...and now that the weather is gonna be getting cold in places like DC, Philly & home against Carolina, the ground game is more of the focus.

but as far as Plax, the person...clearly there was something wrong if Pittsburgh let him go in the first place...he's a phenomenal talent, just not a nice guy, and not the most intelligent it would seem...there's a lot of guys in sports that are great talents but are jerks, but they dont run around with concealed weapons.

The problem is the Antonio Pierce may be implicated in the shooting accident as well, he was with Plax. Pierce is the leader of the defense. Teams generally struggle when setbacks like this hit the team. Its a harmful distraction in the locker room.

Burress was led out of a police station in handcuffs earlier today. Bloomberg is even getting involved in this episode.

He later posted a 100k bond.

Concealed weapons in the city of New York is a no no.

Starinvestor, I'm 100% certain that you ONLY posted this story because it gave you another chance to be discreet about your prejudice.

HOWEVER, I agree that this guy is a moron, a complete tool, I'm sick and tired of these brothas tryna "Keep it real" and "keep it gangsta" while making 7-figure salaries. He abused the PRIVELEGE of playing in the NFL.

I think we can imagine how this story is going to end, carrying a concealed, unliscenced weapon in NY carries a MANDATORY sentence of prison time.

Back to that slimey worm starinvestor, he wasn't out gangbanging, he was at a club. Once again you've shown your ugly, racist, true colors.

The funny part is how they seem to carry on with the assumption that no one can see their prejudice. The whole "gangbanging" thing sorta gave it away this time, plus this is the general tone of starinvestor's posts, if he's not criticizing all poor people, he's criticizing minorities specifically. It's really sad to watch, I betcha he LOVES black-on-white porn, seeing the big black monster-thug take advantage of the poor, defenseless white girl.
