Back in the day when Playgirl was a valid entity was it considered a promotion for a model to post for the centerfold?

What do you mean by "promotion"? The centerfold model usually got more attention than the other models in the magazine, which probably led to more modeling work. Many of them were professional models who posed for swimsuit, underwear and fitness catalogs, like the legendary "International Male" catalogs. But very few of the models ever achieved real celebrity status.

I was curious of agents submitted their clients to be centerfolds and if it helped their modeling careers?
