Would it be possible to change the title of the forum to U.S. Politics and maybe have a sub forum for non U.S Politics?

I'd vote for changing the whole thing to the 'Hate Filled Drivel' forum and consigning it to Room 101, myself.

    You'd be about right.

It is a bunch of people who will never agree on anything but to oppose each other until the very end and insult each other's intelligence in the meantime.

Does consigning it to Room 101 stop recent posts from showing up in the "Latest Posts" section? :biggrin1: If that's the case I'll vote for Room 101.

    I don't think it's a good idea, Catch - sorry. :/

I think it should be as open-ended as possible to encourage variety. UK/EU-centric threads have increased a lot the past year or so - used to be almost exclusively American politics before that (I think?).

AND...the EU/UK threads often (but not always) seem more polite than the Yank ones, hehehe. ;)

Don't take anything as an absolute until you have heard from the owner of the site. All suggestions are considered and discussed. Meanwhile I've suggested a year ago the forum be renamed *Village Of The Damned* and I still have not received an answer

We like to kill bears ... and youse guyz like to write sonnets.
    And it shows.

Anyway, now that the British election is underway, we'll see how polite the Brits, at least, will be.
    Exactly one month to go.

The idea is to have a seperate for non U.S. based politics so as it is not lost among the U.S stuff I think this would encourage more people to post other stuff.

Also I think some people from the U.S forget that this is the World Wide Web and seem to assume we are all in the states and as such fail to make references to the U.S ecconomy or U.S defence policy or whatever instead make references to "the economy" and stuff.

No it's probably ver clear but I am trying

Catch - ohhhh, ok. I getya.

Well, could have two subsections in politics - US, and UK/EU. But there'd be some that didnt fit in either category. Still think it's best to have them together for the time being - the European peeps seem to be finding the threads ok.

Not a bad thought tho. ;)

I'd be in favour of an idea like that. The US politics stuff is getting tedious and there is so much of it that any other "world issues" threads get lost. I think there would be more new threads and more activity on other threads if the subjects were separated.

This proves once and for all that most Americans are myopic. Keep the discussion within the limits of the asylum uh?

Ummm.....where I have I name called or called anyone dumb, stupid or worthless for their opinion.

I'm ok with exchanging ideas even if we don't or can't agree. That is fine by me. But several have gotten down right mean. Including you.

I think America is just providing more issues to talk about at the moment. But I think your point more was just to throw some mud around.

You're not innocent, so stop trying to play the game.
Insults come in a variety of shapes and sizes. You can still be doing it even if you don't use words like dumb, stupid, worthless or whatever.

Just like here when you told me this roughly three days ago:
I love your passion about your ideas. I do. It is very American. And as a fellow baystater I like you. But, these tactics at trying to make your point with fiction is beneath you.

Don't worry... I provided a link just to job your memory.

Besides the obvious sarcasm which I think anyone can deal with, you called me a liar. I provided an opinion based on my experience and because you didn't live them yourself you assumed that I was "making it up". You found a "pretty way" to do it without using the direct word, but that is an insult.

    But wait, there's more...
Remember this rant of yours also in the Politics section?
That is the battle cry of the friggin left. You people fall back on that so if anyone disagrees with this Pres then that person is a racist. Bullcrap. More racism showed up in the people who voted for him because he was black. That was a horrible reason to vote for this guy.

Refresh your memory with this link just in case you think I'm "lying" again.

Here, you stereotype an entire group of people, saying all people with a "leftist mindset" just randomly bring up the subject of race whenever they don't want to talk about anything. Then you accuse them of being "more racist" because some of them may have voted for Obama because he was black. That's also an insult, especially to me since I'm a black man with a liberal mindset that originally voted for Hillary Clinton.

Here's another one liner, also generalizing and discriminatory:
You lefties are a screwy bunch when you discuss potential violence. link

Now all people on the left are "crazy". Another generalization and insult.

And how about this one... this is one of your most infamous ones:
If immigration passes, this country is doomed via what has been invasion, not immigration. You should be third generation American before being able to vote. link

How nice of you to discriminate against foreigners. Someone must've been offended and insulted by that comment of yours. If an immigrant become American citizens, they have every right to vote regardless of what generation they are. Why should the person who works hard to come to this country then have to wait two additional generations, thereby never getting a chance to vote themselves, just to appease your partisan beliefs? And what about immigrants who are gay or lesbian? Chances are, they won't be having kids. So this ideology also discriminates against them too... ever thought they may be insulted as well?

Even without the vulgarity and the use of "naughty words", you can be just as hateful and insulting if not worse. If you're typing things like this with no regard of the groups of people you're indirectly alienating and chastising, then don't be surprised if the responses you get are not favorable. The reason why I get a lot of attention is because I don't feel the need to be delicate when someone voluntarily insults me. There's no doubt when I do it... and in most cases it's in retaliation to the "pretty insult" you provided beforehand. Perhaps if you REALLY thought about what you're typing before you click on the "submit reply" button, you wouldn't receive as much disdain on the Politics threads? Just a suggestion, of course.
