    Well, two points:

    1. just because Bill O'Reilly seems to think that convicted or accused "sex offenders" are no longer human beings deserving of any rights and just because he also likes to position Democrats as soft on pedarests does not mean that all Republicans feel the same way he does. There are some in the Republican party who have social views very close to being Libertarian and those people would actually value human/civil rights in much the same way the ACLU does.

    2. Just because the religious right and the neocons have increasingly dominated the Republican party, and they all happen to be fascist assholes, this also doesn't mean that's what the party is all about. If anything, it has been conservative forces that have traditionally defended the right to free speech against the PC police. Censorship is often a liberal cause. It was Tipper Gore who fought to get warning labels about naughty words put on music CDs, and Joe Lieberman was the politician who most directly tried to exploit the public outrage over the violence in the video game Mortal Kombat.
