What's the "warrior" diet and will it make my abs look like yours?
It is mimicking the eating patterns that man has done for 100,000 years before everyone started eating tons of food each day and got fat. One meal a day, in the evening preferably.
For 100,000 years man woke up and hunted his food. Worked to make the kill, then brought it home for the tribe to feast. Our bodies are programmed to respond to that style of living. Not 3 square meals a day or 6 smaller meals a day. We have not adapted to this new style of eating which is evidenced by the fact that there are more sick, fat, and unhealthy people than ever before, mostly because of eating habits. Ever eat a fat breakfast and then want to just lay down and sleep?
What value would have eating during the day had for paleolithic man? A full man will not hunt as well, and a man with itus or food coma will not put up much of a fight or flight when a saber-tooth rolls on the scene.
During the daily fast (undereating phase) one can snack on fruits and raw vegetables (as man may have on the trail of the wooly mammoth). If you need to you can also have a small portion of protein. Yogurt is fine. Green tea or freshly squeezed juices. There are no ups and downs or spikes in levels and your mind will stay focused as your body is tricked into survival mode where it burns fats and has your metabolism ready and willing to burn up your nightly feast, which can include pretty much anything you want, and as much as you want.
Your body doesn't need so much food to survive, don't let the man tell you this! Consume this, consume that, fuck that. Our instincts have all but disappeared, but we lived instinctually for a 100,000 years. On this diet, or more properly described as a way of life, you learn to trust your instincts again. Such as you know you have eaten enough food when you become more thirsty than hungry (because it takes 20 minutes for your brain to realize you are full) so you do not eat more than you need to.
And the best part is, every night ends well as you are completely satiated...
And yes, it may help your abs, I have lost 10 lbs since beginning this way of life about 3 months or so ago, and I lost those 10 lbs very quickly and have now just maintained a healthy and lean body with little effort since.
* I also work out during the day to mimic the hunt, and if I am up for it I run outside and hunt down squirrels or other game when I get hungry
