Such a troubling number. Another extremely successful smear campaign a la we know Saddam has weapons of mass destruction.
The number of Americans who believe -- wrongly -- that President Obama is a Muslim has increased significantly since his inauguration and now accounts for nearly 20 percent of the nation's population.

Poll shows more Americans think Obama is a Muslim

Ive been quite sad about this poll all day. Sad because so many of my fellow citizens are ignorant to blantant truth. And sad that so many of my fellow citizens equate Islam with evil. A better day will come. I am very hopeful.

    Different day, same old BS.

Well that makes perfect sense. After all he was born in Kenya, and his father was Malcolm X. :biggrin2:

Hey kids, let's go even deeper down the rabbit hole. :yikes:

WOW. I cant believe I read every word that nonsense. The fact that fear is such a powerful motivator is distressing enough. But to scare people from having faith in what is established truth (ie, our President is an American, born in America, elected in America, baptized in America) is a disgusting last ditch effort to seize control of our hopes. My prayer is that its not too late for us ALL to wake up and SEE what is happening.

Some of the respondents are doubtless being intentionally obstinate and using their responses in a passive-aggressive ploy to voice their discontent with Obama rather than actually holding the belief that Obama is a Muslim. I fuck with pollsters all the time.

But the remainder are a painful reminder that "One Man, One Vote" is a poor idea.

Polls are a great thing if they concur with what you believe. If they don't then they are waste of time!!!

No... all polls are pretty stupid.
Considering that the nature of polls are completely unstable and will variate daily depending on who is asking the question, how they word it and whom they target for the answer, the mass majority of them make horrible indicators of anything substantial. When some news organization or politically slanted person decides to survey less than 1% of the American public to come up with an opinion, that should be a huge indicator as to how flawed the system is. However, we now live in a time where people don't give a damn about facts and only want to be told what they want to hear.

Which is why the same morons who claim Obama is a Muslim now are probably the same people bitching about his so-called Christian pastor just two years ago.

Case closed. Now excuse me as I morn the nationwide loss of an additional 50 IQ points.

It makes sense that the percentage of people who say this are conservative. I don't think they believe it but it's just a way for them to express their disapproval.

Er,opinion polls are opinion polls-JUST THAT.No one is saying they're anything else. They don't chose leaders, they don't form governments nor do they decide policy etc etc etc.So why get a 'bee in your knickers'about about them??...you've already agreed they're meaningless!!

Absolutely right. If you select the right people to ask the questions, choose the right area to conduct the survey and phrase the questions in the right way, you can get a poll to say pretty much anything you want it to and still say, hand on heart, that you polled a random sample of people on the street.
