I won't push it like that. Child safety has nothing to do about in my opinion. And if a child is on here, well wouldn't that be weird enough because the name of this site says enough about what we are talking here... Imagine a child who stumbled upon this site yesterday. The front page is a forum, and most children will just think BORING and leave.

But now look at these penis icons today. They are so like the dog bone icons on lots of sites for children. And children will know you are supposed to click the bone. What this site has done has used an icon which makes the front page of the site specifically attractive to children and encourages them to click through.

THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

It may not be legal. The USA's Child Online Protection Act (1998) imposes a duty to protect children from materials harmful to minors. This seems to be a direct invitation to children to view.

I voted to remove but I think your argument is daft. Mainly because you clearly don't know what happens when you do click on those icons (be they the old folder or the new cartoon cock) - What happens? If you single click nothing happens - if you double click the forum content gets market as read. The user is not taken to forum and sees no additional content.

My main objection to them is that they're silly.

My second objection is that there is the odd time when I have the front page of this forum open when other adults may wander past and see it - if they have time to stop and read (and I don't switch tabs or windows) they will of course see many 'adult' words on the page - however, an eye cast over the page quickly would reveal little about the content. That is no longer the case - the little cock images all down the side of the page are going to hop out at people (nice image, huh? :smile. So I have to be a snidge more careful. Not a BIG deal. But irritating.

You can't see them if you are using the Chrome browser. In IE you can see them without logging in.

I have no idea what started this bull shit all the time about what " little Johnny or little Britney " might see. The name says it all if you ask me. If they are old enough to be surfing the net by themselves, then they are old enough to read what they should see and what they should not. If they are that dumb, then the parent needs to be next to the kid.. This stuff with kids anymore makes me sick.... The whole world does not revolve around kids. My first thought when I saw the icon was 'that's different from what was there' then I thought 'why do they have the Academy Award Oscar statue as an icon.

A child knows they are to click the bone? That's a new one. Are websites all over set up that way?

Your thought that they will leave with out the icon because the opening page is a forum is nuts. The topics for each section are showing including Sex With A Large Penis. Most curious teens will probably click on that just for the mention of sex. So much for their boredom. Besides why aren't their parents setting controls on their computers and doing random walk-by checks. And you're in a tizzy over an icon.
