anything involving more than 1to1 relationships require an IMMENSE level of security and maturity. not that 1to1 relationships themselves don't require that too.

in my experience, open relationships = failure.

nooby, it depends on how you define failure, which i believe is the whole point! As long as the relationship is keeping one happy, one will continue to sustain it whatever it 'looks' like. And if it doesn't, squeaky wheels get greased.

I love this idea... but why stop at 3? I'd be totally into a group relationship. I like the interplay between a small group. It does require mature, confident people for sure.

why stop at three start a commune and you can add more and more and more and turn into a mini city where everybody fucks everybody else...lol

I ofcourse will stay on my little island and be by myself..such a situation is not acceptable to me. fine for others if they want a friends with benefits or roommates with benefits.

Seems like a good idea to me...sending two guys out to work...2 paychecks, play one off against the other, so I always get what i want, plus men are like cars, they get old knackered and don't work anymore so they have to be traded in for newer and better models, so having 2 around should last a bit longer!

I do believe that the most practical polyamorous relationship would be two men and one woman. The men, under such an arrangement, would both be responsible for her needs, including sexual, and the woman would be assured of more attention from her men, even if there was an element of competition present.

I have not "lived" in such an arrangement, but I have been a part of temporary situations in which I "shared" a woman with another man on an ongoing basis. I was surprised to find that it was a "bonding" experience with the other man for us to both be fucking the same woman.

LOL Yeah, it's just like getting change at the bank! When my ex turned 36 I told him I was going to trade him in for two 18 year olds. :biggrin1:

I once dated a guy who was in a poly relationship. him and his wife each dated other people, though every once in awhile they would date the same person. So far they have been together for about a decade and everything seems to work out. We are not dating anymore, but I still have fb privileges with him (and sometimes her).

In the tv show "Caprica" they have a character who is in a group relationship. There are a few females and a few males that all love each other, and are raising a gaggle of kids.

I have a friend who is in a polyamerous relationship. He's my age (23) and his husband is 26. Their little boy-toy is 18 and looks like a mini-Ken doll, lol. They sleep together in a king-sized bed, and it's adorable.

I watched the tru-life (mtv) about multi-love and found it interested, you should check it out-- it's probably streaming on their website.

I live in Dallas, not the best place to meet people. If I lived in a more densely populated area like SF or NY I would check out this aspect of life further.

My wife and I have been sharing our lives with the same small group of couples since college. The six of us own and run a series of businesses together, and we all own homes together. The sex is incredible, but it not the reason for the relationship. These are men and women that I love deeply, and we have chosen to spend our lives together. If it was just about sex it would have never lasted as long as it has.

I am glad to know that so many are speaking up about this way of life. But I have to disagree with Freya's take on it. So exploitative the attitude in her post. I believe in Love. 'Good will is the highest form of intelligence.' And I am too proud to let my lovers support me, or raise my children by others.
