Assuming you have all the credentials (membership of lpsg should be qualification enough!), and that (all else being equal) a realisitic opportunity arose, what guys here would choose to get into porn (as a performer) for a "career"? Are there any guys, or girls, who have actually had this experience?? Do the benefits outweigh the risks and is the greatest risk in pursuing such a path the likelihood that the thrilling opportunity to swing your big cock around with abandon would soon develop into a pleasureless chore??

Needless to say, I'm not seriously considering it myself, just curious  !

There's been plenty said about this before here.

Straight porn for men is not a lucrative field at all. Forget it.

Gay porn is where the male money is... but only the top 5% actually can make a real living (unless they create their own production company - meaning they are reaping the rrewards of both producer and actor).

Most gay porn stars I have met have to cross-market: films, magazine shoots and freqently hustling.

I have three bear porn movies under my belt... I did it as a lark, not to make money.

Although I got nothing upfront for my involvement, I do receive a .05% residual check once a year (about 300 Euro... LOL - they were all filmed in France).

Why is it needless to say that you're not considering it?

I would consider getting into it. But I would work for myself. As LV pointed out, working for others as a male actor will get you nowhere. But if you own your own website and produce your own videos... that can be extremely lucrative. It requires some capital to invest, some internet skills, and it helps to be proactive. I don't really have any of the above.

Interesting question! There's an exhibitionist part of me that would enjoy performing for an audience... maybe at a party or in some semi public place (I've never done the former, and never been seen doing the latter - that I know of). Porn looks too much like prostitution, which has absolutely NO appeal for me.

I know an artist who'd like to paint me nude. While that is more tempting than doing porn (and I guess I'd be doing it for no renumeration), my reaction is much the same as the one I have to posting my pictures online: no thanks.

I would do it if the right opportunity came along. not for the money necessarily, but that would matter. I would do it because I think I would enjoy it. any producers out there interested? lol

I have been asked to do porn a couple of times. Last time, a guy approached me at the gym in the locker room. I told him I might do it if I didn't have to show my face. I figured the odds were slim that they would want someone on those conditions. He asked me to come in for a photoshoot. So I did. And I have to say the photoshoot was a lot of fun. The shot of me with cum all over my chest is actually from the photoshoot. I did not sign any model release forms and they did not shoot any of my face. A couple of months later, they called me up and told me that they were doing a movie with glory hole shots in it, and asked if I would be interested. I just had to stick my dick through the hole and get sucked off. It sounded like fun so I agreed to do it. The video was by Treasure Island Media in San Francisco. The whole thing was lots of fun for me. I guess I love showing off. I would never do this for a living. It doesn't pay that well, but it was a lot of fun to do, and hey I didn't have any fallout from it since I didn't have to show my face.

I think I would do it. I have had sex in front of people, and really enjoyed it. Might as well get paid.

In my younger, fitter, unmarried days I would have done it just for fun. I've found I have no problems maintaining an erection in front of people, which is the main barrier to entry, besides there being a HUGE number of straight men that want to be porn stars. These days you pretty much have to be good looking and very physically fit in order to make it on camera.

Once there was a local company advertising for talent in one of the alternative papers. I called the number and soon found that YOU had to pay THEM in order just to audition, with no guarantee of having sex with anyone. I think I was out of work at the time and couldn't/wouldn't front the money, and I soon forgot all about it.

No. I don't recommend anyone choose porn as a career. AIDS is still an epidemic disease, and you will never know the person that you are working with has had unprotected sex last night.

I used to fantasize about doing it when I was younger, if I ever got into shape. But now I'm too old and more out of shape than ever. For lots of other reasons it was never a realistic possibility. I don't think I have the right psychological makeup for it, e.g., I'm not very outgoing, I'm not a risk-taker (in fact I'm extremely cautious), I avoid unfamiliar situations, etc., etc.

The same things that kept me out of porn also keep me single, stuck in my job...well, just "stuck" in general. I admire anyone who can let go of their insecurities and inhibitions and put themselves out there like that, especially if they can have fun doing it.

The other thing you have to keep in mind is that doing porn can kill your chances at having another career, particularly any career involving status, authority, or public scrutiny. Even posting your picture on a site like this could come back to haunt you.

My friend's husband works at a Web site that hosts gay adult personal ads, and she suggested that he might be able to find me a job there. I think I'd enjoy the work environment, but I'm concerned about putting that on my resume if/when I decide to move on. It would likely be a problem if I ever wanted to go back to the career I'm in now, or a similar career.

If I had MySQL (I do have PL/SQL) and DBA experience, I could work as a DBA for LPSG! :biggrin1: (I read that thread about the problems the site has been having with its MySQL database...)

I fleetingly thought about porn as a career, but I don't have the body for it and am WAY too camera shy. Plus there's the thing about it making it difficult to pursue any other careers afterwards...(yes, I thought about aspect, too.) And the concern over STDs as well...

I used to want to during my adolescence but have since decided against it. I'll still like to work in the industry in some form though.

I would love to be in porn, not really full time, but for fun and for some cash.

With figures like $8,000 for a film and 3,800 for a shoot, it sounds pretty good. But, being that I am somewhat cautious, I feel that I be scared of STD's and stuff.

No. I don't recommend anyone choose porn as a career. AIDS is still an epidemic disease, and you will never know the person that you are working with has had unprotected sex last night.

The majority of the industry is quite safe. Performers are routinely tested for a wide variety of communicable diseases. There are those gay companies that provide bareback porn and cum eating, but performers know the risks of that before going on set. Straight porn seems a bit stuck in the past. There is quite a bit of unprotected sex and so many of the girls seem eat cum or do "creampie".

I agree with what others have said: better to do your own thing rather than work for a company. Performers make good money, from a couple hundred for pics up to a thousand or more for a scene depending on their looks and the action. Still, if you've got your own site and produce your own content (which anyone can do with a bit of training & equipment) you keep the majority of the profits and stay in control of where your work will go.

It sounds like $$ for gay porn. I think male actors in straight porn receive a few hundrde dollars for a day's worth of shooting.

Still interested?
