It's hard to imagine him pee shy. I think it has more to do with his size. I think he could be on the large size of the scale and perhaps he is uncomfortable for people seeing it. Good distinction, re shyness vs pee shyness. I was pretty pee-shy for years, but have long had zero inhibitions about nudity. Or he could just be shy about peeing in a urinal. I know I am, like some guys out there. Unless I really really want to go, there's a risk of me just standing there like a fool at a urinal with nothing coming out. And because nothing comes out in the first 3 seconds, the situation becomes stressful (of course this only happens if others are around).

I often have difficulties to piss in the urinal, if someone is with me in the room, I block. It started at a very young age(elementary school). Sometimes I take alpha blockers and the problem disappears, but alpha blockers are not the solution, my blood pressure goes too low, I feel lazy, no cum during ejaculation,.....
I think I might know why my friend won't use a urinal. I know he has a strong heavy pee stream. Because of his strong stream he probably has a lot of splash back using a urinal. This is probably the best explanation to using a stall instead of a urinal.

My urethrea is/was weirdly shaped, with a strong stream i had always sprinkler effect and ended almost wetting guys next to me so i was a stall guy for a long time.
For me the fix was by getting Prince Albert piercing! Now i have steady strong stream along my PA ring and learned in few tries how to pee without backsplash.
