For what it's worth I use safari on an iphone & ipad and I haven't had any issues with the new version. I'll caveat that by saying I don't use any of the chat or video functions, but for browsing the forums generally no problems at all

App stores won’t allow apps to “porn” sites. That is how they classify us.
Pretty ridiculous. There's probably more nudes and porn on Reddit and Twitter than here but I guess those are classified as social networks.

Only thing I want fixed hopefully quickly is video attachments on mobile are still very wonky (Some play fine. Some only play audio and some don't play at all)
i have the same issue, then there’s videos that don’t show a thumbnail hopefully this is fixed soon.

I'd agree with many others - a roll back at this stage will not help, if a decision had been made a day or two after then possibly a different answer.

Like others i'm getting used to the new layout and look, there are still bugs and irritants but every site has those and can be worked on over time going forward.

Plus i'd hate to lose the chats i've had since.

Go with the pain the only way is forward :)

good luck and many thanks

To paraphrase:-

`If you can't do software get a big cock!'

But seriously - stay with it, attempting reversion if it hasn't been planned for has potential for disaster.

continue forward with the update.

i've worked in IT since the mid 1980s. i've been through many *major* software upgradeS. THEY. ARE. NEVER. WITHOUT. ISSUES!!! NEVER!!!

knowing what i know about sw upgs i'd say to just plow ahead with it. (sex pun intended) figure out the bugs as you go along. is this ideal, no. but it's where you are, unfortunately. are some people going to be mad with you? absolutely. everyone will get over it.

as for the the company handling the update/upgrade...if they were very experienced in major updates, they'd have built in contingencies for rollbacks, etc. UP TO AND INCLUDING not closing their office on you until the upgrade was "reasonably" finished. milestones should have been defined during the planning phase!! (this is devops 101)

good luck!!!

Reading the banner saying that a rollback is coming then reading the entire post and at the end saying the roll back is canceled.
How about changing the banner to read that the roll back has been cancelled.
I vote for the new changes and it runs smoother and faster.
Keep moving forward and thanks for all the hard work.

I suppose the decision will boil down to just how many Safari-on-mobile users would be lost were the new version of the site retained. For myself, I feel that it would be a terrible decision to revert! I was surprised by how quickly I got used to the new look and the new features, and I really like the idea of putting in place a solid base from which to expand into the future.

I don't want to see LPSG stagnate, I want to see it get even more awesome! In any case, reverting to a deprecated version of the software would be at best a temporary fix, right?

iPhone users have options like Chrome. I found that Safari was a problem on some other websites and switching to Chrome solved them.

There are many good things about the new design. But I can't stand the new members' gallery/albums look and functionality. It actually discourages me from posting my own content and browsing others' pics n vids. This is a fundamental aspect of LPSG's appeal. Otherwise it is just another chat app. Don't lose that USP.

Keep the redesign, but only if you can return the gallery design to something closer to the way it used to be.
This! Bring the focus on member content and keep the new site

I'm already getting used to the new version, but if you're bringing back the old one sacrificing ALL recent posts... I don't think it's worth it. Maybe ou should wait a bit and find a way of saving recent posts AND switching back. My point iw, do whatever you think is right, but keep the latest posts

That's it exactly. The early '90s for me. I've worked on email system upgrades for thousands of employees. It's never without issue. Aside from whatever technical issues we experience, the biggest issue and pain in the ass is the end-users aversion to change. A simple change in the color of an icon is enough to cause some of them to have a fit over it.

Do what you feel is best, Mr. LPSG, but with over a million registered accounts here, there will always be some that absolutely hate change and will bitch furiously about it. Change is good. It's your job as the site owner to lead us forward and help us progress as a community. There will always be technical issues and problems to take care of, but helping people deal with their personal fear of change isn't your problem.
