People kill people with guns because guns are so easy to get. And there's no background check when buying online, at gun shows or private sales. Gun laws in the USA are a joke. People on the no fly list can still buy a gun.How stupid can you get. Shows how strong the NRA lobby is.

Just because it would take a fuck load of effort doesn't mean the lives we could potentially save aren't worth it.

You and B.C know damn well background checks are state by state regulated, any unchecked gun sales are illegal in Oregon all sales must run through an Oregon F.F.L. dealer for residents which I am.

That's the exact problem tho.. state by state regulation just doesn't make the necessary impact on who can get a gun and where, and those regulations still have loop holes in pretty much every state. Ever driven across country? It's pretty easy to just, drive on in. With whatever you have in your vehicle.

Not everyone in this country lives in Oregon. Where I live, it's basically a free for all. Someone could come to my state, stock up, conceal it all and drive right into any other state unchecked. It is a free country..

The White House does not represent the population. The white house represents the elite and their bottom line. When the supreme court ruled that money is speech, and politicians started taking big donations from big donors, our democracy began it's spiral down the toilet.

I understand your point about how people may have the impression that the whole country is a free for all, and it certainly isn't... But the point is worth mentioning that until we pass Nation Wide gun legislation in a way it is much more of a "free for all" in all 50 states than it is in their countries, because we *can* just drive across state lines in many cases and purchase firearms with very little regulation.

We had an equivalent of Sandy Hook in the UK (Dunblane, Scotland). We banned handguns soon afterwards. The ban has been extremely successful, so please stop the bullshit that you can not ban certain weapons and achieve it. The UK is a country of nearly 70 million people. If you are found with a hand gun now, you are going down. If you commit a crime with one, you get the same as a life sentence.

We can still own rifles and shotguns. I used to have a rifle but I handed it in as I didn't really use it, but I do have several sporting shot guns. And no, we don't allow the ones with pump action and seven cartridges or whatever.

To obtain a license, you undergo at least one hour of face to face profiling by a senior trained officer and you sign over access to that officer to find out anything they want to find out about you, as well as filling out extensive and personal forms. They have full access to your medical records.

The local Chief of Police personally signs off your application.

There are around 150,000 gun licenses in the UK, covering around 500,000 firearms. This is the sort of ratio you need when you only use guns for hunting, pest control and skeet shooting etc. multiply that by five to get to what the USA would be like with our system. Less than a million people and around 2.5 million guns instead of the 300 million plus that are estimated.

I fully approve the UK system. if people didn't kill innocent people with guns, I would object to my loss of personal freedom of ownership, but sadly they do, so I put my own rights second.
