The cause of the Woolsey fire in under investigation. It's looking like SoCal Edison might be at fault, again.

SoCal Edison was the cause of the Thomas fire last year here in Ventura county for failing to maintain their equipment. The Thomas fire started on December 4, 2017 and was distinguished January 12, 2018. The fire burned 281,893 acres, destroyed at least 1,063 structures and killed 21 people. My friends house was burned down.

A couple of months ago, Gov. Jerry Brown past bill, SB 901, that allows SoCal Edison to charge their customers for damages that resulted from the Thomas fire. Because of Socal Edison failed to to their job, I have to pay their legal fees. Now I'm going to be paying on 2 fires. I've said it before and I'll say it to his face, fuck Jerry Brown.

In that bill, SB 901, SoCal Edison was supposed to clear brush around their equipment to prevent wildfires. Looks like they failed to do their job, again.

I've read articles online and watched local LA news on Netflix and do see where over 50 different fire companies are involved. I don't understand why I'm not finding where anyone is deploying DC-10 water tankers over the area or at least choppers that can drop water???

They are using the DC-10 water tankers. They are not using the choppers as much because of the winds. The wind is blowing away the water before it hits its target.

Ah! Ugh. I wish that damn wind would stop. Better yet I wish it would pour ass rain. The DC-10s hold a lot and should help some. It's just the turnaround time to refill them sucks.

The losses are horrific and heartbreaking. Thousands upon thousands of homes and dozens of lives are lost. Again.

Looking at Paradise CA on Google Earth it's clear the city consisted of subdivisions built in forest.

California needs to come to grips with the fact that they cannot continue to build houses in wild lands like the coniferous forests of the Sierra foothills or the chaparral in the hills around the LA basin. These dryland ecosystems are designed to burn. Combined with strong winds no one is safe there.

Building codes need to change so structures are required to have steel roofs and non-flammable exterior siding, decks, porches and outbuildings as well as defensible space around homes devoid of trees, underbrush and foliage. Existing structures need to be brought up to this code.

Good to hear that those who still have homes in this area will be in their own homes for the holidays. All in all this has been a tragic and trying time for those who were affected. Continued prayer for all in the area that had a loss. I also hope those that are still not accounted for will be found among the living. We should be at this time that we observe thanksgiving be thankful for those that made it out alive and the property that was saved. Lives are the most important thing, it will take time but things can be replaced, the memories can always be with you and cherished nothing can take that away.

There was a couple of assholes that got arrested for looting in the evacuated areas. The winds are going to kick up again here in the early morning. We're looking around winds in the mid 30s here in Ventura County. I'm not looking forward to that.

I still have a box of respirators for last years Thomas fire. Those are going to get put to use.

:relieved:
PARADISE, Calif. (AP) — As relatives desperately searched shelters for missing loved ones on Sunday, crews searching the smoking ruins of Paradise and outlying areas found six more bodies, raising the death toll to 29, matching the deadliest wildfire in California history.

Wildfires continued to rage on both ends of the state, with gusty winds expected overnight which will challenge firefighters. The statewide death toll stood at 31. The Camp Fire that ravaged a swath of Northern California was the deadliest.

A total of 29 bodies have been found so far from that fire, Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea told a news briefing Sunday evening. He said 228 people were still unaccounted for.

Ten search and recovery teams were working in Paradise — a town of 27,000 that was largely incinerated on Thursday — and in surrounding communities. Authorities called in a mobile DNA lab and anthropologists to help identify victims of the most destructive wildfire in California history.

By early afternoon, one of the two black hearses stationed in Paradise had picked up another set of remains.

People looking for friends or relatives called evacuation centers, hospitals, police and the coroner's office.
