...because there's no way in hell Rand Paul will win in November:

Rand Paul On Civil Rights Controversy: I Shouldn't Have Talked To Rachel Maddow [UPDATED]

Paul’s Views on Civil Rights Cause a Stir - The Caucus Blog - NYTimes.com

Right Now - Rand Paul, telling the truth

Ezra Klein - Rand Paul may not be a racist, but he is an extremist

Don Parker: Political Media in Shock: Real Democrats Win in Democratic Primaries

    excerpt:
Although he only won the third most votes statewide, Rand Paul, the tea party dandy and media darling, cornered the media attention and won the Kentucky Republican senatorial nomination. Members of the media, however, signed a pact in blood swearing to keep the public from knowing that two Democrats, state Attorney General Jack Conway and Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo, both won more votes running against each other in the Democratic primary than Paul received in the Republican primary. (Please don't tell anyone in the media where you heard this.)

I read an article somewhere that I agree with- anything less than the takeover of one or more houses of Congress by the GOP in November, and it will be a disaster. Barring a scandal in the Obama administration, the GOP is going ot be screwed in 2012. I predict a landslide re-election, and Democrats retaking much of what they are going to lose this November.

You beat me to it, slurper...
Civil Rights are the benchmark to societal tolerance. Nowhere should any politician be trying to push this issue towards regression.

Whoops... Well, it certainly didn't take long for the teabaggers' favorite son to develop a nasty case of foot-in-mouth disease... lolololololol

First, he spends much of his primary campaign burning bridges with the same state and national Republicans he'll need for campaign appearances, fund raising and ground troops this fall... And now this...

I've been saying for well over a year now that the Dems aren't going to fare nearly as poorly this fall some people wish they would. And now we're starting to see why I've felt that way, especially when it comes to Tea Baggin' candidates... These people don't know what they are doing.

What's that pejorative saying we've got around here? Birthers are KKKrazy?

Obviously, at least one very prominent teabagger is KKKrazy too.

My only disappointment with the Maddow interview (and I understand her being so incredulously flabbergasted that she missed the point) is she allowed him to get away with correlating civil rights as they pertain to blacks in the 60s to carrying a gun into a restaurant. And his assertions that imposing / enforcing laws against discrimination is somehow related to government ownership of an otherwise privately owned business. Rachel should have smacked him down hard on that.... but me thinks there will be ample opportunity to revisit this in the near future.

The Democrats are celebrating a bit prematurely...Rachel Maddow hasn't demolished Rand Paul as of yet...Obama overcame 20 years sitting in the church of Rev. Wright.

You're right, Rachel hasn't demolished Paul. He did that himself and continues to do so every time he opens his mouth.

Rand Paul's libertarian ideals were misrepresented by the liberal mainstream media in the majority of coverage. Rand Paul never disowned the 1964 Civil Rights Act nor did he state or impy he would have voted against it. By misrepresenting him, the liberal media kind of nullfied any perceived negativity in Rand Paul Libertarian ideals.

Rand Paul smartly changed the story. Obama now has more and more people openly challenging him in the media deminishing his power: Rand Paul, Governor of Arkansas, Sarah Palin.

It shifts the tenor of Obama's Presidency.

Not really...Most Americans still support offshore drilling.

I found this on Gawker today, which I found very funny if sadly accurate:

Following along the link to TPM, the story gets a full workout:

Hmmmmmmmm...Jerome Corsi is also a birther and frequent contributor to WND. Maybe I should get fitted for my own tin-foil hat, but Rand Paul's alleged "Libertarianism" seems more than a little diluted by plain-old GOP dirty tricks and lies: so much for a new voice in politics.

No. I'm glad she did not smack him down. She rightly allowed Paul to express his views, which did not disappoint me. I was wondering if Rand Paul's views on the civil rights issue differed from his father's and now know the truth.

It's shameful that in this day and age Rand Paul felt private businesses should be permitted to racially discriminate against their patrons.

It just gets better and better:

Paul says Obama being too tough on BP

"What I don't like from the president's administration is this sort of 'I'll put my boot heel on the throat of BP,'" said Paul who overwhelmingly won Tuesday's GOP Senate primary in Kentucky and is a favorite of Tea Party activists. "I think that sounds really un-American in his criticisms of businesses."

Nothing but hogwash from the Democrats. They recognize a powerful candidate in Rand Paul. Pundits on CNN last night acknowledged that Paul's libertarian views probably don't hurt him in the Kentucky race.

Lou Dobbs looked in the Amero controversy and the only nutty thing is not knowing what is going on in this country, asking questions and preventing bad policies from ruining this nation before they happen.

The more strong candidates step up to Obama and challenge him on the issues in the media, the less power Obama has. The ranks are closing and Obama's reign is over. Obama's job in service to the people has begun.

Az Gov: "Do your job Mr. President..."
