And dude, you can be a fighting liberal without calling everybody who disagrees with you a racist or "white devil." I'm not a libertarian, but I don't think libertarians are inherently racist just because they believe business owners have the right to discriminate. FYI, I don't think they should.

I have every right to call the white devils that I have known as such. I haven't called anyone on this forum a white devil or a racist because they disagreed with me, you obviously don't know what the hell you are talking about. You have absolutely no right to dictate to me what I have experienced in my life, I wouldn't do the same to you and would have afforded a much greater deal of respect for you than you have offered me.

What are you? A white devil apologist? Why waste you energy defending these people? When I say that I have met them and grew up around them, you are then supposed to shut your mouth and not attempt to deny that they exist. I mean, were you standing next to me all of my life? How dare you act like you were with me during my 37 years, I don't even have a clue as to who you even are...

And don't put words in my mouth. Use the quote feature or shut it.

Just because all libertarians you have met are supposedly racist, doesn't make all libertarians racist. That's a basic logical fallacy.

I have told you that in my realm of existence that every libertarian that I have met have been racists, so must I then posit that I am logically meeting just the racist ones? Your suggestion of just that, is a larger logical fallacy than the one that you are accusing me of. lol! There is no basis for me to believe that I only come across the racist libertarians and just haven't met all of the good ones. The logical conclusion is that I have met a cross section of the control group repeatedly over my years. It is also logical that I have had a greater chance of meeting average libertarians than only happening upon the wingnuts over and over, it's simple science. I have absolutely no desire to see racism in another human, it hurts my heart when I am confronted with racism.

I think the KKK should absolutely have the right to publicly espouse their views.
Well, I'm glad that you feel that way. It's great to hear that you think that they should absolutely have the right to espouse hate and foment revolution. Maybe they'll even be encouraged to take up violence again with your support. Yay! Pat yerself on the back for that one.

You sound like a little snot nosed 18 yr old know it all, the way you debate.

Oh, isn't that cute!!!! You insulted me! Wow, you sure know how to sound like a pure douche.

Next...

Your positions- which posit that pretty much anyone who disagrees with you is racist, evil, etc, is as dangerous as the racism that you claim to hate.

You have only a cursory understanding of my positions TomCat. I am not dangerous by any means and neither are my positions. What you have done is misinterpret my 4 years on this board and are effectively slandering me in the process. Use the quote feature or SHUT IT.

You don't know a fucking thing about me TomCat. Maybe next time you will spend less time with your head up your ass and more time in refuting my positions.

:pat: Do I really have to dredge up your past posts to back up my assertions? You DO sound like a snot nosed little 18 yr old thinking he is always right. :pat:

Exactly...I've seen plenty of establishments with placards reading, "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone."

As someone who has spent his entire adult life working in the service sector, your quote is one of the dirty little true secrets of how, when and if someone gets any attention from staff. Another dirty little secret is that many of my biggest and most successful sales were made to those who were scanned and rejected by my co-workers: "They'll never buy anything"

I've also been lawfully denied housing. In 1978 I was looking for my first real apartment with my best friend at the time, a woman. One of the best places we were shown through an agent required an interview with the landlord before any lease was signed. During the interview, he asked us when we'd gotten married. Perplexed, we assured him that we weren't married, just great friends.

"There are laws against co-habitation" was his reply, still believing that Rhonda and I were living "in sin".

"But I'm gay!" I replied. "We won't be cohabiting."

"That settles it: I won't rent to a pervert. Get out."

At the time we were blisteringly mad, but eventually found a larger place in the same neighborhood and got over it. We really had no choice in the matter; it wasn't resolved until about eight years later when full civil equality for gays and lesbians was signed into law in Massachusetts. Boston's changed a lot in 32 years.

You're barely ever (if never) going to see 100% straight men randomly go to a gay bathhouse and complain about being discriminated against for obvious reasons.

And we all know it's illegal to come right out and say they can deny people based on skin color, so they think of unique excuses to refuse them.

The bathhouse reference was much more an example of gender discrimination than anything else: no matter how badly a woman might want to enter, she'll be barred.

On the other hand, I cannot get a membership at Curves Fitness either, though it doesn't bother me in the least.

I agree that certain forms of discrimination are pernicious and evil: housing, employment, access to credit, access to health care only being a partial list. I also agree that methods of discrimination have been somewhat "refined", and that, ultimately impossible to prove.

I find it fascinating that Paul's civil rights gaffe has received so much press when there's been almost no discussion of his opposition to the Americans with Disabilities Act, which attempts to ensure equal accommodation and access to people with disabilities. To my mind, arguing over a hypothetical change in 45-year old civil rights legislation (that will never actually happen) when real issues of real consequence to millions of people remains undiscussed.

Good point. Anyone can get hit by a bus tomorrow and wind up in a wheelchair. And then the ADA really does seem to be of great importance.

Hell, why should we talk about Paul when the disabled have very few champions in Washington. What has Obama done for the disabled?

My libertarian boss is very proud of the fact that handicapped people do not have access to even a ramp at the business that she owns. She has repeatedly refused to make a ramp available and makes the people in wheelchairs be lifted chairs and all into the establishment.

The rights of the have nots are absolutely meaningless to the libertarian.

They are NOT their brother's keeper and that is why they must be opposed at every turn.

Two kinds of people in this world... Cains and Abels.

I am from the school that Abel should have defended himself and killed Cain instead. Call me crazy...

Libertarians are obsessed with ownership. They seem to be less interested in the private pursuit of human individuality than the preservation and strengthening of private property law.

Ask a Native American what they think of property laws in this country...

We shall be judged by how we treat the least among us.

All I got to say is that, "Most libertarians could use a little more Jesus."

It's called empathy libertards, look it up.
