I'd like to think that we'll have implants that regulate brain chemistry in real time to totally eliminate depression. Oh, and bacteria engineered to "eat" viruses.

I doubt warp drive will be around, but hopefully some sort of fusion technology will allow us to send people to other planets and long term probes to other stars.

Unfortunately, I think war will still be with us.

Wow, now that's an incredible article, written in 1901!! The year Queen Victoria died!

I find it amazing that the author correctly predicted the wireless communication, the sending of photographs anywhere in the world instantly with 'all of natures colours', the fast trains, the ships that float on air (Hovercraft), the ready cooked meals.....

Thanks so much EarlLogJam for posting that, definitely one to spread around friends and family.

I predict:

A moonbase established on 'Luna', where man will begin to reach for Mars.

Thought control will be the new age of technology, set up a wireless neural interface (a small plaster like chip attached to the temple) and interact with your automobile, home entertainment systems, and other people!

Very low orbit travel will enable people to reach the otherside of the world in a tenth of the time.

The continuing advance made in Telescopic technology leads to the discovery of the first 'Earth-like' planet known to be idyllically suited for human life.

Now all we need is to know how to get there!!

Seeing how we have already reached "Peak oil" I see the end of fossil fuels.
With the green house effect the weather will be more voilent and arable land and water will be in shorter supply. Food prices will go through the roof.
We will have to live in high density housing, and yes I belive that there will be moves to control population growth.
I think there will be a push towards a one world currency and there will be a break down of the UN.
I think that Russia, North Korea, China and Iran will come together and start another war with the US and her allies.

My Pleasure Eddy.

1. All language barriers will be gone through electronic translation devices - shrinking the world.

2. We will enjoy more and more free time as machines do more and more of the routine and drudge work.

3. China will be the defacto world power in the next 100 years

4. Our economy will be based on hydrogen or some other renewable resouce.

5. Everything will be recycled and renewable.

6. Computers as we know them will shrink and evolve into tools that we wear and integrated into our bodies like jewelry or watches.

7. Lie detector technology will be so advanced that it will significantly reduce the crime rate and prison populations.

8. People will live to be 120 years old on average.

9. Earth will become comprised of just one culture, an amalgamation of the many now.

10. People will not know what real food tastes like. Most food will be biologically engineered and the variety will deminish.

I offer this with apologies to mr. logjam, the unsought begetter:

1. We will have no more time that we do today because labor-saving devices have never won us more time.

2. China will be the defacto world power in the next 100 years

3. We will be leading much simpler lives to reduce our consumption of energy. There will be great use made of wind and solar power, carbon sequestration will permit use of coal without prejudicing the purity of the atmosphere, nuclear power will make a comback, there will be far fewer vehicles per unit of population than today while greatly increased public transit (powered by some eco-friendly means) will take up the slack.

4. Human population will be lower than today, perhaps only two or three billion.

5. Everything will be recycled and renewable.

6. Computers as we know them will shrink and evolve into tools that we wear and integrated into our bodies like jewelry or watches. They will last longer since, with power levels developed past all point of relevance and eco concerns now paramount, planned obsolescence will no longer be tolerated.

7. People will live to be 90 years old on average.

8. Earth will become far more monocultural, to the dismay of many and the delight of the business community.

9. Much food will be biologically engineered and what we now call 'real food' will be a rarity, almost a form of condiment. Average nutrition levels, however, will be better than today.

I hope than in 100 years the world population really get down .

In the future, more people will come to understand, that world population is really way too small, and we will have grown, and continue to grow all the more, well unless the Lord has return by then?

But then that New Jerusalem, described in Revelation, does sound like a rather spacious population arcology, not built by corrupt human hands?

?? Are talking of world population in the future with over 6 billion people or with 2-3 billion people ? Do you think that the present world population is small?

After the nuclear WW-III, the population will be greatly reduced...
Humans dont have natural predators so anything dramatic has to happen to reduce the population . A nuclear war will do it. This is sad and brutal but is how the world operates.
