Obama's first fiscal year was not under his control. He took office on January 20, 2009, two months after the budget started. When Obama was sworn into office, Bush had already submitted his $3.1 trillion 2009 budget that would last 8 months into Obama's first term. So yes, he did inherit Bush's budget to increase the debt.

Anybody who blames that $3.1 million on Obama is a fool who doesn't understand how budgets work.

Obama has DECREASED the deficit steadily for the past three years. Considering the mess he inherited from Bush, he should get re-elected for this reason alone. Aside from this, job creation is steadily rising.

Let's get real: Clinton was the first post-war president to decrease the national debt. Unlike Obama, Bush didn't inherit a ridiculous budget. Bush DOUBLED the debt. He was an unpatriotic president.

Not that those matter since your title is misleading by saying "Presidential" and then including Hamilton and Franklin, neither of whom was a President.

About Pres.Obama and food stamps, yes more people are on them now because more people are being made aware that they exist and can be obtained. If anything things have improved on that front. Less people are at risk of going hungry. In times like these when the economy is still shaky and greedy store owners are jacking up prices on food, food stamps are a blessing.
