I am constantly hassled by gay guys, which I hate because girls won't give me the time of day. Is it just Murphy's Law, or my bad luck, or does this happen to a lot of you?

Could you be more vague with your question?
    But...
Dude, I think the "gay guys" are just showing their appreciation for what many of them like. You know, the size queens?
Just let them know that you're straight, and they'll admire you from a distance.
They should, anyway, if they have any manners.

    I wouldn't consider it a "problem" though...
Just a man admiring another man's attributes.
    Cheers.

In my case, it's middle aged white women. Most gay guys I've met have been well mannered and respectful.

I can relate, because i'm constantly hit on by women.
But I'm not really offended when people are attracted to me.
If I'm not interested I merely say so.
I end up with a lot of cool female friends who
help me find what i really like to sleep with.
    :)

it's not a "problem with gay guys." the problem is you.

It's not that bad. Just take a compliment for what it is.

On a related note, what is the best way for a straight guy to let a gay guy know he's straight and really m? I usually try to casually mention my girlfriend and that works most of the time but not always. I actually prefer when they're really explicit about it because then I can just shake my head and say "sorry, not interested"

True. I guess the problem that I have is not the gay guys themselves. It's just that guys are very vocal when they see something they like, whereas women say nothing. And that kind of sucks.

Your note indicates you prefer gals to guys.
    Try changing locations.
    Go, "Where the girls are".
    Don't give up.

Your note indicates you are aware of same-sex interest.
This is more prevalent today than in the past, with both genders.

    Try to overcome sexual discomfort;
the older one gets - the easier it becomes to be around the "unusual", whether it's people who talk "funny", are well-endowed or excessively attractive.

Try to appreciate the good in everyone. The golden rule remains. That big, dangerous-looking motorcycle rider may be the open-heart surgeon who saves your brother's life next week.

Be not afraid to say what you want, mean and need - to both gals and guys,
    respectfully.

If you are being hassled by gay guys in Bakersfield, then that town has changed dramatically. That place used to be among the most sexually repressed places in California. In any event, speak honestly, but politely, that you appreciate the attention but you are not interested.

There is an underlying thread to your entry, however. It is taken from Shakespeare:
"Me thinks thou dost protest too much".

The attention you are getting from gay guys isnt driving away the ladies. There is such a thing as "gaydar", and many straight people have developed it, as well as most gay people. You may be sending out subliminal signals through eye contact , body language, choice of clothing and places you choose to spend your spare time that are sending contrary messages to what you indicate in your entry above.

In any event, good luck in finding the person of your true desire. It is not an easy journey, and there are often many detours along the way.

That’s all you can really do, like Jonb said. Its not like there some sort of conspiracy, were all the "gay guys" made up a plan to "get you".
Perhaps you have a "young innocent look that a few find attractive. Perhaps you look rough and tough ......who knows.

What ever it is take it all in stride, at least somebody out there finds you attractive.....a lot of people out there aren’t given a second look by men or women.....

Yeah, if you get attention from guys, it doesn't drive the girls away. Hell, if you WERE gay, you'd get a lot more female attention.

    That is definitely true! Hahaha!

Dude - I would chill if I were you. So what if the girls think you might be gay? Wouldn't it be a HUGE surprise when you take them to bed?

I was gonna say the same thing, but then I have only been to/through Bakersfield a few times on the way to Tahoe. All I can say is, if the gay guys of B'field won't leave you alone, don't move to Laguna! ;)

Oh, I also agree with cruz' advice - just let them know you're not interested but you'd love to know if they have a hot sister.

On my latest Q-069 bulletin from Queer Central, Loser Emo Kid has been downgraded from "Metrosexual Malleable" to "Blow Only if Drunk".

Being from Bakersfield, he's probably assigned to your workgroup.

    Get cracking.

What happened to stage 3b, "wants to, but doesn't have the balls?"

Being from Bakersfield, he's probably assigned to your workgroup.
No, that's Zone 1132, South Eastern SoCal region.

    Get cracking.
Not my workgroups (Zone 461A) responsibility, Bakersfield is 900 miles away, but I have forwarded this information to Q-HQ and requested that he be designated as a potential conversion requiring level 3 attention.
