Any truth in the idea that sexual abstinence may predispose to prostate cancer; some theories are that "the pipes" need to be claered out regularly and that by not ejaculating (sex or masturbation) regularly, there is a predisposition to cancer of the prostate???

Well this has actually been studied:

Basically, there is no strong indication that frequency of ejaculation in adult life is related to prostate cancer. However, more frequent ejaculation in adolescence or early adulthood may protect against it.
