Showing Male sex organs is very taboo in our society.

That needs to change. It's gotten so much worse over the last few decades. It's the old men in charge get to tell women actresses you need to go nude while giving guys a free pass. Once women get in power they have a tendency to make men drop the towel in film. Funny how that works.

And lets face it, many men have issues with the size of their dicks...even if their dicks are average or bigger.

That should change. Guys walk around with a whole lot of baggage about their dicks and they need to let it go if just for the self-esteem. Bless your penis. It is a good natural part of your body. There is too much shame and anxiety around it. I grew up during a time when guys could easily get naked in a locker room and shower next to other guys not true so much at least in the US.

Feels like at bare minimum they should admit in interviews they are using a prosthetic because they are shy or did not measure up to the intended anatomy. If they're going to make the directive choice to show something at least be as upfront about that aspect as you would regarding make-up or other prosthetics.

You have just sighted the only situation in which I find the idea of main an actor wearing a prosthetic dick in a promoted nude scene to be acceptable: i.e., when he doesn't "...measure up to the intended anatomy."A perfect example of this is Mark Wahlberg playing the porn star--loosely based on the legendary,very well endowed--John Holmes in "Boogie Nights." Of course, it might be that Wahlberg is also well endowed; but it would have been awkward and rather distracting, at the very least, to cast an actor in a serious film for that reason.

I rather they show nothing than a prosthetic penis. The prosthetic may look like a penis, but when it is on the actor it looks fake as hell. They are “always” too large, and they hang wrong, they look like a disfigurement on the pubic bone, and the make-up team always tries to add pubic hair, and that makes the actor look like he has a weird disfigurement and a 70’s bush. Does anyone else get the feeling maybe Hollywood isn't ready for realistic penis prosthetics? I mean like it not being a skill issue in making it convincing but maybe they don't pay out or want realistic fake dicks on the screen? Maybe as if they want it to be jarring how obviously not their penis it is?? No clue but food for thought
