I need some advice.

I'm a 44 year old guy in great health. I just had my physical and everything was fine, except for my PSA level.

Apparently it was high this time around. The doctor thinks it's because I ejaculated the night before the blood was drawn.

He checked my prostate and it was slightly enlarged, but nothing wrong with it besides that. Nothing that would indicate my PSA level being that high.

He wanted me to wait a little over a week, before having the test again (blood taken) and don't want me to ejaculate at all.

Well, I hadn't cum for a couple of days before my physical and I'm on my sixth day now.

To wait more than a week seems a little extreme to me and I have been leaking pre-cum like crazy.

Last night must have been some good dreams, because I woke up to a leaky dick.

Anyhow, I have two questions:

1: Will precum throw my PSA level off?

2: Does over a week seem a little extreme not to get off?

I heard 72 hours before should be good enough. I'm in hell right now and just want to bust a nut.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

 • Here's a claim that ejaculating within TWO days may raise levels in men over 50.
For men over age 50, ejaculation within the past two days may artificially raise PSA levels.

 • This site suggests 24 hours is the cutoff point.
CONCLUSIONS:

Both total and free PSA increase immediately after ejaculation, with differing rates of return to baseline levels. PSA testing within 24 hours after ejaculation may lead to an erroneous interpretation of the results of both total and percent free PSA measurements in a small proportion of men.

 • This study claimed that ejaculation did not much affect PSA.
The mean PSA levels of the men before and 5 consecutive days after ejaculation were 0.79, 0.72, 0.63, 1.01, 0.71, and 0.74 ng/ml--not statistically significantly different. We conclude that ejaculation does not seem to affect the serum PSA concentration.

Sounds to me like 72 hours would be enough time for any effects of ejaculation to dissipate. That said, if you do have an elevated PSA level second time around, you're going to be left wondering if your busting a nut had anything to do with it.
Best advice, I think, is to do what the doc says.
You only have to go through this once.

I've never in my adult life gone as much as a week without ejaculating and it's never effected my PSA level, which I have checked annually. My doctor did warn me to avoid having any orgasms within 48 hours of a PSA test and for the most part I have done that. So, yes, I would think holding off for over a week does sound extreme.

Pure bunk to think ejaculation within 24 hours raises PSA. But take the test at least once per year. Do not skip a year. Saved my life. I still cum, harder than ever which is great. Just miss the feeling of ejaculating. So goes life.

I just had the same thing! The Doc told me i couldn't ejaculate for a week prior to the exam. I can't remember the last time I had gone that long without cumming. I felt a bit on edge the last couple days. All was good with the tests!

A few years ago my PSA number came back at 15 and my doctor went crazy and ordered a biopsy right of way. I asked for a retest but he said it wouldn't matter. I should of demanded one because the biopsy found nothing and it caused me to have retrograde ejaculation which means most of my cum goes into my bladder. Research afterwards revealed that sex before the test can alter the results. I am now ruined for life. An orgasm is just not the same when you don't spew a big load.

PSAs have been so overused that their meaning has become useless. But yeah, ejaculation will make it higher than normal. Actually, just about anything will make it high. An enlarged prostate doesn't mean cancer, it just means it's enlarged, which can be a problem in the 40s (BPH, etc.). Nodularity, however, is a warning sign.

Then, does retrograde ejaculation cause a bladder issue? Perhaps an infection?

I have not experienced any bladder issues yet... my cum volume has been reduced by at least 80%. My wife doesn't mind too much because it is less to swallow or clean up but it does make me feel like less of a man. Instead of a pearl necklace I shoot a pearl earring. And yes ejaculation CAN alter PSA levels. It brought mine up to 15 that one time. I have normal levels now and limit ejaculating at least 48 hours prior to testing.

Update: After last Saturday I haven't done anything.

I've decided to list the supplements I'm currently taking and will bring them to the doctor with me.

They are:

Zinc
Saw Palmetto
Ginko Biloba
Horny Goat Weed

I've only taken the Zinc and the Vitamin D that the doctor ordered me to take. The rest I've been off of since the blood test came back with the high PSA levels.

At this point, my balls are very achey, along with my abdomen.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to explode on Monday afternoon. I'm even thinking of just jerking off inside the bathroom at the doctors office, after they take the test.

Holy shit. Am I reading this correctly. One side effect of a prostate biopsy is that it can screw up your ability to ejaculate correctly?

Update:

Well, things were going well. I resisted all temptations to jerk off, but it finally caught up to me.

Last night (Saturday) I had a nocturnal emission. Woke up to a full blown orgasm happening and I was covered with jizz.

So, I have to call tomorrow and reschedule. It sucks, because I was very happy with myself, but at the same time I feel like a great weight has been lifted...

out of my pants.

Yes you read that correctly. I found out AFTER the biopsy when I did my research. I should have read up on it more BEFORE I had it done.

Flexxx, I assume that your physician cut a tissue sample from your prostate to check for cancer, but I don't understand how the biopsy left you with this permanent effect. Did the procedure cause some scar tissue to develop which interferes with the normal passage of semen during ejaculation?

I am not sure how it happens but it does happen. Google "retrograde ejaculation" and you will find it can be caused by a prostrate biopsy. They inserted a probe which shot out at least six sample tubes into the prostrate. I pissed blood for a couple of days along with bloody ejaculation. Soon after I discovered they were smaller loads.
