I have considered all the cons and pros and I still feel like I don't care anymore if strangers would come up to me and say hey you're the guy with the big dick.
Nor would I care about a future employer knowing or screening me.

But it's not just me in the future, there's a gf and a family in law and children or the possibility of having an examplary function and this would complicate things.

So for the sake of the "what if" future I'll seperate the two identities as much as I can.

You guys made some very valid points thank you.

Well, there aren't many gay seniors originally from Ewetaw who make Barcelona their home, spend most of January and February in Buenos Aires, have a ranch in Elko County, NV, and are emeritus professors of the department of language at le Universitat de Barcelona and are hung like a clown. I'm fairly well known. And the members of the Elko Chamber of Commerce who also are members of LPSG know me well enough to leave me in peace. Still, that doesn't mean there aren't those who know me and don't want to kill me.

Ya takes yer chances.

i've been recognised in the street in 3 different countries by half a dozen people from this site and it's never bothered me. obviously i dont have a penis but i do have partially naked pics of myself up. why would i be bothered about people recognising me? why would anyone else? people can recognise you from facebook but it doesn't concern the general public.
i hate it when there arent any face pics on here. and the old adage because i dont wnt it to interfere with my job" thing isn't valid. anyone at your work that sees your profile, had to be on the site themselves to see it so they are just as "wrong" as you would be. and if you have a wife/partner that you don't want to see you on here, then your intentions can't be ery loyal and you should either break up with them or start being faithful. i know people will probably slate me for my opinions but hey, they're mine so get over it.
xoxoxo

Again... this attitude is so incorrect as to be akin to clinging to VHS tapes as the definitive video technology.

People do NOT have to have visited this site to find your picture. Already there are Bot programs that crawl thru the web trying to identify the faces in every image ever posted on the net.
These mindless software drones are not concerned with your privacy, nor your feelings. ONE picture online, associated with your real name, will be enough to tag your real name on EVERY photo online in which your face appears.

Beyond that, it will list EVERY alias and avatar your photo is associated with, every website you have visited, Every comment you have ever posted under any alias or username you have ever used and, likely, every physical place you have ever gone, at what time and day, with your smartphone turned on.

All this information about you WILL be laying dormant, in the structure of the web, awaiting only someone to type your name into a search field.

And who would be doing that? Someone you are dating... someone who is a rival?... someone who is in a custody dispute with you?... has an axe to grind against you?... a prosecutor?... someone thinking of hiring you?

For folks who are in their 50s and up... this issue is probably not that big a concern... by now you are done with most of the drama in life... by now you know if you are going to be famous, in the public eye, or subject to character attack.... by now your career is settled and retirement on the horizon.

But for those in their 20's to be so blase about their identity online... they have No Idea where life will take them, or how their online activity, suddenly attributable, could devastate their future prospects.

Posting pictures of your face on a site where you use an alias is the same as posting them at your local supermarket, or on the bulletin board at the office.

I have found that simply by inserting your LPSG Screen name on any search will bring up your profile. Your screen name @LPSG.ORG. and it wouls not be hard to look closer inside the site to see the pictures ETC.

I have had my photos of my penis taken and used by some one else on other sites.

There is an amazing amount of nude photos out there you would think that there isn't any one who hasn't had a nude photo posted.

I ran across a site that links nude photos with face pics and shows their Facebook page along side it.
That is wrong

Like other posters have commented, I will not post a picture that shows my face here but I will share face pics over email with someone who I have talked to for a while and have developed a sense of trust. Also I have no problem with meeting people from the site in person, again once a level of trust is developed. There are some amazing people here and I'm glad to be count them among my real life friends.

Hey Bud, don't worry about it. As a matter of fact, the more you show your face the more people like you I think. I did porn back in 2005 and other than a few folks who I already knew tell me they watched it, no one ever put it together. Oh did I mention that at the time I did porn I worked for the US Federal Gov.

The ONLY reason I wouldn't was if I was a teacher or worked with youth. If I was a teacher I wouldn't even be on facebook!

In the end, its your call. While showing your dick belongs to your private life, some cultures frown at doing so in public. Therefore, what matters is how much you want to live up to your culture's standards or you may want to innovate in that area and face the cosnequences. Its the same as being gay and disclosing it or not. Though I am in favor of being open about it, in some countries you may get kiilled for it.

I am not paranoid. I simply pay attention to what Google, facebook, and myriad other internet companies are doing... they are making a large share of their income from compiling and selling information about YOU.

And not just collective info, like you being part of a percentage who like this or that... but specific info about you... such that, they have plans to be able to Identify that You, in particular, are partial to Chocolate covered cherries... and track your movements via your smart phone such that, when you get within 100 feet of a shop selling chocolate covered cherrie, an ad will pop up on your phone as an alert.

Google is working tirelessly on software that will be able to identify the content of ANY picture posted online, rather than rely on filenames and tags.
And, like their Google Streetview cars, they are collecting this information with the express purpose of offering it in searches or selling it to the government or commercial interests or anyone else who will pay.

This is not paranoia... this is just what they have already Admitted they are up to.

That would be me ... no face pix or anything resembling real name or location here and NOT on Facebook at all.

I find this funny because, for me, as I've gotten older I've gotten much more cautious about how much information about me gets put online. There's the old line that as long as you're not famous or going into politics, who cares? That's an oversimplification, if you ask me. Your employer could care, your clients could care, your parents could care, your kids could care, your partner could care. I've been burned enough to know this.

While I totally agree that living a double life behind an avatar is a terrible thing, and that it's best to behave online as you would in real life, I also believe that some caution is in order.

Not to be precious, but you're giving too much in the bolded part.
It isn't a terrible thing.
It's just not quite ideal.
Imo, at least.
But ... good post.

i googled my lpsg name and "lpsg.org" and you're right, it did show my profile page. this is why you're not allowed to put a naked avatar on this site, because your profile picture can be accessed by anyone online with your name and the site name. however, you can't look at anything else unless you are a member and are logged in. personally, i don't put up any pics or info that i would be ashamed for anyone i know to see. so this doesn't concern me.

i guess you just have to decide if you think you're life on LPSG is something you should be judged and punished for in real life. personally i still think you're extrememly paranoid about how many people or "bots" or whatever would be looking for you. are you a president or something? tell you what, i'lll let you know if my life comes crashing down round my ears cause of a couple of tit pics. i wouldn't hold your breath.

I have no clue about your personal situation with family and friends but if you're not worried for your life being destroyed, how about theirs? A neighbor seeing your pics online and confronting your parents and telling the neighborhood?
A kid from school googling his friend's hot mom and showing the school her naked pictures?

I never really had an issue with my online and offline lives mixing, alot of friends know i am on here and find the site fascinating some have even joined

My one rule of thumb was never share my online life with family as they dont wanna know

About a year ago my online life was blown wide open when an ex told everyone my business spiced up with a few lies

I sat with my mum and confessed all and she said "we know" she then revealed when the fam shared a comp my profile would always pop up in the history not to mention the discovery of a large condom in my jeans pocket lol

I'm still pretty young (just pretty hairy for my age :) .) I'm not famous, but I'm fairly well known, and somewhat active in a bit of the local BDSM/pornography scene here. If someone were to find out I was connected to that it's not that huge of a deal, but there's a big difference between that and someone actually being able to read everything I've written and see everything I've done and connect it directly with me.

i don't know if you've looked at my pics but none of them are hardcore in any fashion. this is because i'm not stupid enough to think that anything i put online is in any way "private". and where i'm from, family and neighbourhood aren't an issue. as for my kids friends googling me, at worst they'll see boob, and they're great boobs! if you went through childhood without some sort of sexual embaressment then feel blessed, coz shit happens. i doubt it'll be the worst thing that ever happened to a kid. i haven't suggested that people should put their whole life on camera up in here, i was merely replying to someone who suggested that someone might take the time out of their lives to sit and trawl the internet for naked pictures of me so they could go to whoever and ruin my life. hate to tell them, but i'm not that important!
