My pump doesn't have a gauge. How do I know when to stop?
A thought: pump just until you have a solid seal, and not much more than that. You can't rely on 'feel' as an indicator; you can easily pump to more vacuum than you should and not feel it.
You'll know that you have a solid seal when you can gently pull the tube away from your body and it still stays sealed. It takes very little vacuum to reach that point. Make sure that you have trimmed your hair short in the vicinity of where the tube makes contact with your body. (It doesn't need to be shaved.)
And if this works out for you, consider buying a pump with a gauge on it later on.
