I have not carved a pumpkin in years. I just decorate the outside and later the following month they become a pie.

(Side note) I have a deep and concerning addiction with pumpkin.

I love it. However, I've never carved one myself....we did once in school.

I was always told that a carving pumpkin and a pie pumpkin were totally different. That the pie pumpkin had a less stringy texture and was higher in sugar content, where as the carving pumpkin was originally grown for livestock feed.
