That's sorta what I was doing.
The only problem is that the computer has a noisy fan.
I should replace it ... and then I'm laffin.
I open my computer up and clean it with a air can. You would be surprise at the dirt and dust that accumulate on the fan and other parts.

Do a scan with Malwarebytes. In the safe mode if you can. First do a quick scan, then a long scan choose drive C. Its free and it's the best out there. Heres the link. Years ago Avg was very good. However in recent years it leaves much to be desired. It sounds like you have been hit hard with viruses. Just get scanning. Keep scanning.

Malwarebytes... I agree with Mr. Snakey. That whole thing with the email coming from you and addressed to you? Don't worry about it; it's a spoofing trick that creates paranoia. Malwarebytes is the place to start. And you may have to run this program in excess of 10 times to remove *all* of the code fragments you may have accumulated.

After you have it up and running, can I suggest you look at Kaspersky as an active home computer security package? Worth every dime.

Good luck.

It was my monitor.
Replaced that and now everything's flowin like cream.

LMAO... I guess I should have read all the way to the end of the thread before I posted. I was just so excited to find something I agreed with Mr. Snakey about.

Still, Hhuck, you may want to look into Kaspersky. I have run McAfee, Norton, AVG, and I really like how Kaspersky works.

nVdia Video card in that machine by any chance, with an Award or AMI BIOS? When is the last time you updated *either*? Had White-screen from standby issues with a GTX 295 OCFU + All versions of Windows (XP, Vista, W-7, 32 & x64 versions) on an AMD with Award BIOS. A quick flash of the Motherboard BIOS and an updated driver up and away from the one that came in the box with the video card *fixed* it.

I just might do that, CG.

Of course, it's not recommended that you pull the plug to shut off your computer when all other methods fail.
With most towers/desktops, you should just push the hardware power button on your computer (the button the you normally push to turn on your computer) with your finger and hold the button in. After about 3 to 5 seconds, your computer should shut off automatically. Then take your finger off the button and shut off your monitor.
This is a "last resort" way to shut off your computer when the usual Ctrl-Alt-Delete method doesn't work and the keyboard doesn't work either. Sometimes computers hang up and you gotta do what you gotta do to get it to shut off or reboot.
