did any of you guys see it this weekend?

I thought it was pretty great and action-packed even though the story needed alot of work.

Daniel Craig has totally won me over as being a real badass Bond. He was just great. The Bond Girls (Camille and Fields) were good, but not memorable at all, IMO. Plus, the main "villain" of the film was more wimpy than usual.

What did you guys think?

Spoiler Alert for the rest of the thread.

I quite enjoyed the "wimpy" villain, actually! The most dangerous of foes isn't always a brute, you know.

Also, these Bond girls were by far the sexiest I've seen! Yummm...

Overall, as a Bond movie: A+
as a movie alone:B

Edit: Fields' first name is "Strawberry"! How awesome!?

I think Marc Forster was the wrong director for the movie. Most of the action sequences were edited so choppy and incoherently that it crossed the line from frantic to confusing. Numerous times I was wondering who just got shot, how did they end up in the kitchen, where did those guys come from, that kind of thing.

I'm not talking about the scenes being unrealistic in the "Oh, Bond never would have walked away from that explosion" kind of thing. You expect that in a big action movie. I couldn't help but think that they were trying to duplicate the gritty action feel of the last two Bourne movies, but didn't execute it correctly.

Also, why did they make the Camille character a latina? Every time I saw her on screen I was thinking "Can Tan".

There was plenty to like here. Like in "Casino Royale", there's more character development than the older Bond movies. Still has the cool scenery and great photography. Still has the ruthless spygame stuff. I just thought it was disappointing.

It wasn't as good as Casino Royale and the story wasn't the strongest but it was still a solid Bond movie and I enjoyed myself. If I had to rate it out of ten I would give it a 6.

I am a huge Bond fan. I own every movie, and every original Ian Fleming book. And in my opinion, neither Quantum of Solace nor Casino Royale were Bond movies. Great movies, Yes. Action packed fun for sure. But Craig is not Bond, I like him as an actor and I like the fact that Bond is more Physical in these movies but he has ZERO class. He is not suave and he acutally enjoys violence and killing. That is not Bond! Bond uses Violence as a last resort, he is a spy he is supposed to infiltrate and get the information without being caught. Not walk in and beat the shit out of everyone and kill them. They are trying way to hard to turn the Bond movies into Bourne movies. And as a Real Fan I am not happy about that. I mean they even had a couple of shots in Quantum that were identical to shots from Bourne (i.e, Jumping from one balcony through the window of the next appartment in semi Slow-Mo as the camera raises).

Plus they took away his sexual prowess. He doesn't fuck the hot Bond girl in Quantum, and in Casino Royale when hes with the Cuban (or whatever she was) at the beginning. He gets up orders her Champagne and Cavier and leaves? Bond would not do that! He would fuck her order the champagne and Caviar for himself, kick her out. Then fly to Miami to kill her boyfriend.

I could go on allll night. Love the movies, but don't call them Bond movies.

Tsk, tsk, I am a little disappointed with you.

If it was the real James Bond, the girl would have ordered and paid for the champagne and caviar, he would have enjoyed the champagne, the caviar and her, then kicks her out and fly off to Miami to kill her boyfriend.
