Ryan let me explain you a simple thing, if the Uk was a 30 years old republic, you would still paying all the presidents that got passed into the HoS, becaming even more expensive to support than paying to just one HoS until the end of his/her life, Presidents are like Prime Ministers they came and go, they do mistakes and still get their benefits for being in those places, not to mention the dangerous relations that Presidents have with political parties, because they need political parties support so they could put the interests of the nation in the hands of those parties.
So and how come you Portuguese threw out the Royal House of Bragança?

Not very clever then.

Bem-vindos
Not very clever then.

me? how can a single person like me could do such thing?

I dont even recognise the green&red what you call portuguese (republican) flag as the symbol of my country, for me it will be always under blue&white.

the change to a republic was a fatal error, we lost a lot of our global influence, and we have facts of that, our monarchy was like the uk monarchy todays, the republicans after assassinated the king in his back and his son they did a Coup d'état by force imposing the republic, what followed were 16 years under pillage, media closing, priests killed, removing to hundreads of citizens (specially womans) their right of vote, and many other things, which means they did exactly the opposite they were claiming when in monarchy, then after those 16 years we had a 2º republic in a dictatorship that costs 40 years, then a 3º republic still today with the second or third time under IMF help, and people are not happy with it, some even ask for a referendum about the regime because the republic was never a choice of people but a choice of a group of people that impose the regime.

We are still paying our first presidents from the 3ºrepublic and its not cheap, one of them was caught by the police by having the driver (yes he still have a driver and a car) speed to 199mph in a motorway, he said furious to the police that the state will pay the fine, this person was also respondible for the shameful and bad descolonization abandoning the colonies in the hands of terrorists leaders.

Well deserved for the Wonderful Lady
exceeded expectations
Shows theres still Millions who still have her as there reigning Monarch, and rightly so
Cant help feeling, if her Mum was still alive, she would stand for that period of time as well ..

I'm watching the footage on television right now... It just looks fabulous. I normally hate being in the rain in crowds but I wish I had been there.

Can't say the concert was too bad, either, hehe.

Loved the fireworks, and the light projections onto the Palace. ;)
