I find honest people to be amongst the most interesting. Pity their kind are an absolute rarity these days. ;)


As for queers... Hell's yeah I'm offended! THEY TOOK'R WORD!

So I'm gonna take it back. :D

No, queer is not an offensive word. People who get offended and hurt by words really need to lighten up. Sticks and stones.

Queer is what I am.

"Gay" is definitely an offensive word. It identifies a political identity that I don't identify with - but am constantly subjected to. Very annoying.

Acquantance asks "Are you gay?" = probably not an insult, just curious or interested.

Acquantance asks "Are you queer?" = more likely an insult, although he might be trying to be politically correct and still is curious or interested.

Acquantance asks "Are you a queer?" = most likely an insult, as the noun as opposed to adjective usage tends to be more derogatory.

The meanings and connotations will also vary if asks by friends or complete strangers. We have tried to desensitize ourselves to obvious insults but the process is still ongoing.
