Dumb question but is edging just the act of stroking, stopping when near cumming not cumming? The stroking some more and stopping etc until you reach a point where you just explode?

Yep, edging is stroking until close to the edge indeed ...
After getting close to edge, aka as edging, the orgasm is more intense, the amount of cum is usually bigger as is the amount of pre cum.

I normally don't edge, but when I have I haven't noticed a difference in load. I precum alot normally, so I have lots of precum oozing out the whole time. But I do know that I normally don't shoot...but if I edge...it shoots out....which is nice since it doesn't usually do that.
