That's because you equate erotic sensation and erection exclusively. Many men have learned to locate other triggers for their erotic response. This doesn't mean that their dicks are useless (at all), just that when the focus is elsewhere, the penis is no longer necessarily responding.

When the focus returns to the penis, erection returns. It's really an issue of wiring, that's all.
