No one is saying that police brutality is a good thing, what the video is getting at is how people think this is only an issue with black people when it does indeed happen to every race in America. As was mentioned in the video, it is perfectly logical to assume that blacks are on average more likely to have interactions with police officers due to their significantly higher crime rate compared to white. Even amongst whites we could probably divide that very broad group into over a dozen different sub categories and come up with some statistics that would be rather interesting, maybe compare the crime rate of high school drop outs to that of college graduates and you would find that the drop outs would have a much higher crime rate compared to their educated peers.
The two biggest issues the black community needs to address are education, or lack thereof, and the ridiculous prevalence of single mothers, I read a recent stat that put 77% of blacks growing up in a single parent household compared to 29% for whites....that says a lot. Why this is such a problem I have no idea, but it is a great place to start.
I don't know. I don't seem to remember blacklivesmatter ever stating that it only ever happens to black people. I mean i don't really follow them that often but from what i've seen they've protested against police brutality. And more specifically police brutality against black people. Maybe theres something wrong with me here but i wouldn't dislike people protesting against the unequal wealth distribution in america because they aren't also protesting against something else.
That would be like getting upset with and dismissing those against deforestation because they haven't also protested some other environmental bad thing. Does it happen to white people? Yes, yes it does. Should blacklivesmatter be responsible for protesting against police brutality of white people? No. That would be like getting upset with feminist because they don't protest for men's rights. With that said. There would be an after effect if blacklivesmatter didn't have to constantly fight discussion wise for relevance.
Lets say that police brutality in america slows to a crawl because of blacklivesmatter and those agreeing that unfair punishment against black people is wrong. Don't you think that would then lessen the reason for blacklivesmatter's existence? And at that point wouldn't police officers in general then treat the people they're suppose to answer to better? No matter the race?
In that scenario, there would then be more oversight and accountability. At that point unjust treatment would be easier to spot and would be easier to rectify. The justice system would then be a tad bit more fair for everyone. Really haven't you ever encountered a job where just about everyone was making mistakes. And after new manage comes in (or should i say good management) people make less mistakes and the workplace as a whole gets better.
Every time someone doesn't let someone else walk all over the rights of another it automatically makes the world a better place to live in. If only a little bit. And that doesn't just hit the feelz either. Financially, psychologically, physically, socially.
Now i can understand where you're attempting to go with your argument. If blacks do more crime then they'll get more punishment. Seems easy doesn't it. Cut and dry. Ok now let me ask you this. What are the biggest problems with american politics? Would you say corruption? Would you say that it's too many people on the take? If you would then i'd agree. Based on your logic about crime and who does what though i'm sure we would disagree with my next statement.
Straight white men in politics should be stereotyped because they are the ones doing most of the corruption, taking most of the takes and are generally sending america into a flying fiery pit of financial, social, gender, religious, sexual and governmental tale spin. And this is over the entire span of americas current run. Using your logic, we should be stereotyping and have a closer eye on as many straight white men as we possibly can.
Now, thats not me using my logic. That's me using yours. And continuing that on..
The two biggest issues america in general needs to address are education, or lack thereof, and the ridiculous prevalence of two parent households, I read a recent stat that put 77% of blacks growing up in a single parent household compared to 29% for whites....that says a lot. Why this is such a problem I have no idea, but it is a great place to start.
Meaning there are white people out there who voted for a man running to be the president of the united states who stated clearly that we...as america....as america in general should kill the families of suspected terrorist. People who didn't even blink at that notion. America is pretty supersized in comparison to a community. And that comment by trump does sound predatory doesn't it. The fact that many white americans just agreed in unison is more than a tad scary. Yet theres no one out there to bring them all to heel.
Now i'm not saying anyone should be stereotyped. What i'm saying is, by your logic, who should be? Last time i checked black people haven't been and aren't in the majority when it comes to politics. And politicians in general are the ones who run this country. Are the ones who have a much larger effect on crime, finance, psychology, health and etc. A country i might add is much much much larger than a community, town, city or state. So i don't know, wouldn't that be a good place to start?
Or you know. We could go with my version of logic and try to help everyone. Instead of bottlenecking our vision. Just a thought.
