The origin of the word is from the Cuckcoo bird that lays its eggs in the nest of another bird hoping they will be hatched. Once hatched, it pushes the other birds eggs out of the nest and makes the parents bring it food until it fledges.

I think she's fantastic and is one of my faves It's too bad more tv news commentators/talk show hosts aren't as intelligent and well educated. Rachael has a doctorate in Psychology from Oxford U in English and never butchers grammer like so often heard on tv.
