He is, but it's one that isn't beyond all repair. So if he's able to start us on the road to recovery (and perhaps even show significant signs of it during his first four years), then his time in office will be that much more historical.

Well, McCain would have been a great choice 8 years ago - he might be too old now. But I still like him as a person - and most of his views. Let's just hope the religious right don't make him promise too many nasty things...
