Racism? Or Simply Preference? Who Is Right Here?

Isnt judging people based on their looks ALWAYS a matter of preference? If someone finds blonde hair and pale skin more attractive than black hair and dark skin, isnt that an very obvious example of preference?

If someone were to say "I dont think black people are attractive because I dont like black people" then, yes, thats a racist comment. If someone simply finds paler skin more attractive, thats clearly just an expression of preference.

Also, physical beauty can rarely be extrapolated to just one variable. For example, I wouldnt ever go so far as to say "blonde hair is more attractive than black hair." because Ive seen some people with black hair that were gorgeous, and some people with blonde hair that.... werent. Ive even seen some people that one would say have similar traits, and Im able to find one of those people attractive, while the other not so attractive.

Beauty is an all-encompassing thing. You just look at someone and you can say theyre attractive, or theyre not. Thats probably why youve never heard anyone directly answer "what they dont like about black people." Its a loaded question. And it doesnt ask about the whole story...just the taboo/touchy part that would get people offended.

All encompassing? That’s why we have topics upon topics about people specifically requesting pics of guys with “big pecs” or “nice abs” or “red hair” or insert feature here? It’s not all encompassing. People can identify specific features on a man that they find attractive.

True, but its also possible for someone to have those features you are looking for, and still find that person NOT attractive. Surely, guys who are attracted to blondes dont think EVERY blonde out there is hot.

So when it comes to making a judgement call about someones overall "hotness," it usually cant be boiled down to a single thing that makes them hot.

This also applies to things people DONT find attractive. For example, Im not particularly attracted to overweight women (surprise, surprise, right?) But Ive still come across and slept with some pretty curvy girls in my day who, although they had that one particular feature I dont normally find attractive, as a whole, they still made it work, and were hot as hell and got my dick rock hard.

Interesting to see how this thread has progressed...Ive popped back in because the last few posts have made me wonder, why not just say not attracted to dark skin? I get that...but there always seems to be the ease of default to "black people" and I think that's where I and others are looking for clarity as to how it isnt an exercise in racism as opposed to pure preference.
I can only really come to two conclusions, and I fully welcome a critique on either:
The people who say these things have a monlithic view of whatever race or ethnic group they've claimed to be unattracted to and so can only give an opinion based upon anecdotal, stereotypical, or tropish archetypes they have been taught or formed within their mind as opposed to the diversity of reality
Or,
They're aware on some level of consciousness the prejudiced opinion they hold and so double down on the preference angle even when ethnic diversity exposes hypocrisies.

Because “not attracted to dark skin” is not the truth. I have seen plenty of people with dark skin who I find attractive. “Mostly attracted to white guys” tells the accurate truth.

and I would be happy to critique your analysis: Your analysis still stems from two mindsets that are both clearly racist. You have not yet seemed to grasp the fact that when it comes to men, white men tend to hold more value for me SEXUALLY. That’s all.

Bare in mind, that does not mean that men of other races don’t hold any value for me at all. That just means I would be less likely to pick them to join me in the bedroom. Outside the bedroom, All Hold an equal value for me.

I don’t know where you guys keep coming up with this “ holding monolithic stereotype“ narrative from that. This is exactly what I was talking about when I said stop defaulting to racism.

You understand that you are basically saying “ I can’t understand This, and I refuse to accept your honest explanation, so I’m going to assume that this is happening because of racism“?

And yet I can see this thread going on for several more pages. I felt it hit a dead end nearly 70 pages ago, and both sides could've just agreed to disagree but this is what happens when ego is the driving force. A never ending circus that goes nowhere lol. I guess I gotta check back in a few months to see if there's any "progress'

LAWD HAVE MERCY :joy::joy::joy::joy:

*Checks back in*

Nope. Still no progress lol.

New posters with the same ignorant lines are just going to keep dropping in and running their mouths without having read the thread. It's not going to stop, and you're not going to get anywhere with them.

he’s not a new poster. Sagittarius has been around the block here.

there’s a group of people who post here, there, who absolutely have to make white people out to be villains whenever possible. It’s almost as if some of them wake up in the morning and the first thought to pop into their head is “how can I be a professional victim today?”

my faith in humanity will be restored when one of them steps forward from the group and says “you know what? Maybe it IS possible for a person to have preferences that are completely disconnected from any racist ideologies.”

But I doubt that would ever happen... they believe racism is so engrained in human culture that it’s something we are all doing subconsciously all the time. Well I’ll be the first one to stand up and say I don’t give a damn if you’re black, brown, white, yellow, or purple... if you’re hot, I’d be happy to have sex with you. Hell, I’ve seen animated titty-porn aliens that gave me a hardon, and I’d fuck them if they were real. So for someone to insinuate that I must be racist if I don’t sleep with you... well... all I can say is that you just lost out to a fictional, animated titty-porn alien... so I guess it makes sense why you’re so grumpy lol

Your cognitive bias is showing..this is not a question exclusive to white people(though one may exchange bigotry or prejudice for racism), my black grandmother's opinion on whom I should or should not date/marry is a prime example.
I think what you're experiencing is that for whatever reason it's white people primarily that preemptively offer this opinion of racial preference, and then start mentally backflipping when it's inquired upon as opposed to non white individuals who most times will own whatever prejudice they demonstrate because the intention stems from cultural and ethnic preservation.
I think specifically within the US there's an added layer of confusion when it comes to preference against black people, because we see a historical context of voracious consumption of everything black; our culture, our music, our food, our fashion, even our common physical traits are rife with emulation..so why is everything about us so attractive until it's us?

That basically sounds like saying non-white people know theyre racist and just dont care. And at least white people have to decency to beat around the bush when it comes to their inherent racism. Both arent particularly true, in my opinion.

I cant speak for everyone, but I agree that, particularly in the LA area, there are an awful lot of white people (and Asian people... go figure) who try to "act black" and emulate black people in every way possible. I also dont find it particularly attractive... but thats just my personal taste, and I would never tell them to act/look differently.

I think everyone should be whoever they are most comfortable being, or whoever they want to be. If a white person wants to emulate a black person, or a black person wants to emulate a white person, I say go for it. You do you.

I actually wish more people in this world had my kind of "live and let live" mindset. What business of mine (or yours, for that matter) is it who someone wants to emulate? Its this kind of mindset that allows me to consider myself a conservative while still being open minded about things like gay marriage, and transgender people. It may not be my cup of tea, but if youre not hurting anybody, I say have a blast and be whoever you want to be. As a person who seems to tout himself as tolerant, I have to say, Im a little surprised at the fact that youd be complaining about it.
