Racism Outdated?

I have heard that only whites can be racists as it was the whites who did research in racial biology.

Since racial biology is scrapped, are we still talking about races within humans?

Is racism an outdated word that should be about prejudice?

I must add that I have never heard of any culture other than the North American culture focusing so much on races. how can the development in the USA be so far behind?

America did have a racial caste system. That is 90% of why race was and is such a big concern for Americans.

Have you not heard of a pretty decent sized chunk of Europe and how they feel about Gypsies? How a lot of traditional Asian cultures, especially Chinese are horrendously racist towards black people (and other Asian cultures)? Racism and prejudice is hardly "just" a USA thing. Genocide and attempts at genocide have happened the world over. Pretty strong argument for psychopaths and people who think some other ethnicity are lesser. Many first world nations started out/have remnants of atrocities committed against indigenous people too.

Oh. And "only white people can be racist" is a massive, steaming pile of bullshit.

The word Gipsy is actually seen as racist. We call them Romani people. But yes I know about the prejudice against minorities but this wasn’t the case.

Is the word racism a correct term if there are no races? Shouldn’t there be another word like prejudice

You know about prejudice against minorities, but what "isn't the case"? Prejudice against someone for their ethnic background is bullshit and so is prejudice against someone for their culture or other such things. I suppose one could generally call such assholes "bigot", but "asshole" works equally well..

So Why is the word racism still being used?
the word comes from something that research/science shows does not exist, which is that humans have different races.

Would you feel that much better if it was called ethnicist? It's only mildly inaccurate to say racist. I would think the bigger issues are oh, I don't know, the bigots??

I do agree with you that bigots are a bigger problem but I do think that the word that keeps on deviding humans actually makes it worse
