me, i like every dang image in photos 2,tried to forgo the likes but succumbed
like animals most times they deserve one ha

and time factor' is my primary reason in not responding to anyone,
unless they specifcally quote me,where i feel obliged to courteosly respond
plus i dont see my role here as one of 'discussion' damn pontless if you ask me

When did we get so self-absorbed that we can't communicate with each other?
Thoughts?

not all discussions on here are pointless.
I feel the same like I started out liking everything like a crazed person who felt like everyone else was doing it so it must be what everyone does here until I hit the point on all of my social media sites were I felt like everyone is just clicking the like button or its equivalency on other sites and that's it. And it goes further than that to a point where people post just to get likes and that's all they do is post for likes. SMH. Well needless to say I stopped for awhile and then I came back and got sucked back into the storm but now I try to pair a like with a comment or I should say when its fitting I will some threads on here are just for likes (like the food porn one). If it is a discussion thread like this one if I feel a like is needed I try to comment on it as well and if I don't want to comment on it then I think is it something I should like and more often I won't. Which is a weird process in itself to have to go through in my head on every post I read but that's where I'm at now. This is my new process going forward.

(S/N: I know its completely and entirely possible that I am over-thinking and over-analyzing this but sorry folks its who I am.)

Ever wondered if people click the like button just to click it? Now I've railed against social media sites for about five or more years now but in my mind people click the like button for a few reasons:
1) because its the easiest thing to do without actually writing a comment or engaging in conversation with someone
2) its easy to hit the like button on everything just to be someone who liked everything just clicking like on it all. Ive seen profiles and recent activity that is entire pages of likes. No comments on pictures, videos, profiles. Just likes. Is it a competition?
3) is it about people seeing your name and seeing your name on everything? Seeing your name pop up everywhere?
4) is it out of instinct and habit since all othet sites have some form or the exact same thing? So we feel the need to give the same empty response here.
5) do people really like your post(pictures, videos, profile post, comments) or is it really just a way for them to acknowledge they read it and for you to acknowledge they read it. Are we that caught up in ourselves to not take 1-2 minutes to write back to people?

Sometimes I just click ‘like’ as an acknowledgement that I’ve read and enjoyed what I read. That’s usually my reason for the click. If I feel I need the need to respond, I do so.

I think my post count indicates that I respond most of the time. I like communication. It’s how I get to know the people here - have little exchanges.

I must admit, when I check my notifications, and I just see a list of likes, it’s not as exciting as seeing that someone ‘quoted’ me. It means I get to have another little exchange with someone. I guess that means I value communication over approval.
