Yellow-Spotted Rock Hyrax
The yellow-spotted rock hyrax is the closest living relative of elephants and sea-cows, despite their rodent-like appearance.
Believe it or not, the closest living relatives of the yellow-spotted rock hyrax are elephants and manatees—which is unexpected, given its rodent-like appearance! Occurring in eastern and southern Africa, the species is a very adept climber and jumper. Their feet have two hook-like claws on the first and second digits, but the rest of their toes have hoof-like nails.
