Many ships are phasing out the male and female only steam rooms because they were usually free. Many are repurposed in the spas (for a fee) that are also co-ed. So limiting the number of male only spaces. CruiseCritic is a good resource for information on a ship's gym setup. That site can usually tell ya if you will have a male only steam room/sauna or a retrofitted ship.

As a rule of thumb, just look to the older and smaller ships that have not been thoroughly re-modeled/updated. Carnival tends to have more free unisex offerings.

I’ll be on NCL Bliss in a couple weeks. Didn’t spring for the thermal suite since it’s a warm weather trip, but hoping the gym has locker rooms with steam/sauna.

Unfortunately, there are no single-sex sauna or steam rooms on the newer NCL ships such as the Bliss. All of them are co-ed and requires a Thermal Spa pass.

The older Jewel class ships such as the Pearl, Gem, Jewel etc. have a great paid Thermal Spa area with men's steam room and huge saunas with a view outside. They also do have a free steam room in the men's locker room in the gym.

I had more fun in the free steam room in the gym's locker room because it's open to everyone and more folks have access to them but not everyone knows about it. The paid Thermal Spa men's facilities can also be fun and you can walk around nude but not many folks pay for this access since it's not cheap.

On Mardi Gras there is a non-coed "secret sauna" that isn't part of the spa but rather is connected to the men's locker room. You have to pass thourgh a back door way and and down short hall to find it.
