I've offered to meet up with someone I've chatted with off and on for several months, but he seems interested and then disappears for a while. So that night out for a beer is on hold indefinitely.

Don't let the uncalled for reply bother you, nitsud. Keep asking what you want to know and be proud that you have the balls to ask. Those who don't ask questions remain sortta, well, unlearned.

Absolutely right.

This place is a support group (hence the title). Don't let hurtful comments like that discourage you.

Most 'internet people' are far more interesting in their electronic form ... the flesh can be sooooo disappointing.

Hmmm. I think I'm probably just as much the goofy, flaky, boho, pseudo-intellectual, aging hipster in person that I am on here.

Maybe I need to adopt a more colorful and impressive persona. Might need to borrow a pic from one of you guys.

I try not to mix the internet and Real Life™ unless it's unavoidable.
[post=335127]Quoted post[/post]

Its funny you should say that Doc. I have my hang-ups about mixing the internet and real life too. I think ( rather I KNOW) that the persona I put forth here, compared to my everyday personality are two totally different "beasts" so to speak.

I guess I am one of those people persons. I dont post much but I always enjoy visiting this website. I have had some sporadic communications with great guys through this website. Fratrat is really a nice guy who was very respectful in communicating with me as an older guy. Mr. Stout is an extremely good guy--a salt of the earth fellow and great family man.

I will admit that people energize me. As to being someone else online and offline, to each his own but that is not my style or values.

I mentioned to my wife that a non people person to me is going to be a lonely person in his/her senior years. Her reply was that maybe some people like loneliness. A valid thought even though she herself is very much a people person.

Interesting thread.

I've met 4 LPSG guys offline -- purely social, nothing sexual. Three live nearby and the fourth was someone I first met in the LPSG chat, got to know a lot better over IM, and then met when I was in his neck of the woods on business earlier this year.

I'm perfectly happy to cultivate offline friendships with interesting people I meet on LPSG ... just as in "real life," if they happen to be well-endowed that really doesn't impact the friendship one way or the other.

Me either.

I don't pretend, but I am alot more reserve at my place of work ( at the Bars, well thats another story   ). But I think most people are. Of course there are those treasured few who are'nt, and to those I say :yourock:

I happen to be a complex goofy, flaky, boho, pseudo-intellectual, aging hipster, outspoken, liberal, vegetarian, big, evil twin-ly, angry, subaru-driving male lesbian.

Don't box me in, man! ;)

(did I miss anything?)

I haven't met anyone from LPSG in person, but I chat with a good few online, but there are those lurkers that cause me to log onto messenger as invisible...

But as for my personality... I am purely a people person, and I am just as outspoken, blunt, and crazy in person... I thrive in group situations, and I'm just as friendly in person as I am over the net... So if anyone were to meet me in person, there wouldn't be much difference in the way I act, if there is any at all...
