but i have NO idea what you are talking about here.
could you explain some more for me? i must have said something taken the wrong way? or i mean why are you talking to me here? ???

Damn. Tender, look, there's no problem, never has been, probably never will be a problem with what you write here. OK? ;D

I remember talking to a friend of mine, and she was concerned because her boyfriend also likes viewing porn. But for me, I think it's because we're very visually orientated and I think some guys here have mentioned that they masturbate while they're girlfriends are not around, so I don't think, that in that way, there is a problem, seeing how your husband loves you and you have three children.

Sorry, I don't really want to keep stressing you out! <^.^>

It might help if you didn't cut the end of it off. LOL[/quote]
jonb - I remember hearing once that those of the Jewish faith are the world's greatest optimists - they start trimming "it" even before they know how long it will be.

Phallostrates: I know that I'm not the only Eastern Orthodox member here, but I'll be the first to enter it in this poll.

You'd get along with my great uncle Giorgios; he's an Eastern Orthodox priest back home. The importance of religion seemed to wan and eventually die off in the generation that followed him, though, and I remember this fondly...

I decided to tell my mom of my decision to become agnostic and to let her know why. After much deliberation, I realized that if I were to tell others that I believe in God, I would be lying. I do not deny His existence, though I have problems with how He is conceived to the masses. I simply do not know it; no signs, no overwhelming personal evidence. I realize that not every phenomenon in the world has a discernible causal chain...

Okay, enough of that. So, yeah, I told my mom what I thought and she replied, patting my hand, "That's okay, sweetheart. As long as you're Orthodox when you come home..."

And I thought, We're Orthodox? Since when?!

jerkin4-10: well...bliss...ill take a stab...you have Christians...then you have Jews...Christians believe that God came down to earth in human form and was called Jesus...the Jews say Jashua...pronounced ya-shu-a...the real difference is...that Christians believe that the way to attain Heaven is belief in Christ...that He was the Son of God...and whomever believe in Him should have life ever lasting...the Jews believe straight from the Old Testament...and are under 'The Law'...the 10 commandments...kind of a points system...if you accumilate enough points by following 'The Law', you get your ticket punched and get to go to Heaven...the common ground here is...that both Christians and Jews alike...believe in the same Old Testament...the same God...and so theres peace between the two...unlike the Hindus and Muslims, the Christians and the Muslims...The Muslims and the Jews...
I really dont think that the Hindus have any 'problems' with anyone but the Muslims...maybe thats not true...btw if i left your religeon out...sorry...no disrespect intended...thats the 'cliff notes' version of your querie...i know ive really opened up a can of worms with this... :)

That doesn't quite hold water because the Muslims also believe in the same God and the same Old Testament as the Christians and Jews. In fact, at a point in history, the Muslims referred to themselves, Jews and Chiristians as 'people of the Book' because of this common reverence of the Old Testament. The Muslims revere Jesus and John the Baptist as great prophets. What's more, the Jews and the Arabs are both Semitic peoples descended from Abraham (at least according to tradition); the most bitter of enemies from the same bloodline.

da_blissmachine: Hindus believe that all people believe in the same God.

As a yogi, I am well familiar with world religions... but I don't get the what I call "kindergarten" concept of religion where God is this big man in the sky that plays with the puppets and there is this devil with a tail and all that.

jerkin4-10: DMW...better check up on your reading...the Muslims read the Koran...not the old testament...totally different thing dude...the koran may have been written with some elements of the old testament as a guide...
the puppet thing Bliss...that sounds like a catholic mobster statement from a steven segal movie...Christians and Jews alike do NOT believe that puppetier...and most people dont see satan as a guy running around in red pajamas with a tail and pitchfork... thats hollywoods explanation...being a Christian....offers you the freedom to worship God in whatever form you choose...even though some forms of Christianity are a bit more 'ritualistic' than others...if you are interested in finding out more about 'western religion' then i would suggest you TALK to a well grounded Christian...TALK to a well grounded Jew...find a Rabbi [teacher]. these guys are some of the funniest guys around...sit aound and shoot the shit with em...and quit getting your info from bad karate movies...

You should do some checking yourself, dude. The Muslims hold both the Old Testament and the Koran (Quran) as sacred. Much of the Koran is actually commentary onthe Old Testament, not scripture to be read instead of the Old Testament. Did I learn about religion from movies? Please; do I really strike you as someone naïve enough to use a screenwriter's fantasy as a basis of something as important to me as theology? Did I study Comparative Religion and History of Western Religion in college? Yep; got an A in both!

That's funny, I always imagined Satan as a little boy with a 666 on his head....too many viewings of The Omen, I guess. ;)

Welcome back Whopper. Cock size postings are fun, and even informative at times, but nothing is as rewarding as basic theological information.

Your statement, ". . do I really strike you as someone naive enough to use a screenwriter's fantasy as the basis of something as important to me as theology" helps to re-enforce my opinion of you as a person with high standards as well as high intellect.

You are appreciated, Encindo!

jerkin4-10: DMW...well...who can argue what a college course teaches huh?...and thanx for the spelling lesson as well...but...when Muslims talk about religion...at least speaking about it...the koran... :) is brought up a whole lot more than the OT...and IF Muslims believe the OT...what differentiates them from Jews...I mean they read the same book...believe in the same God...thats essentially what you are saying...right?...or maybe...just maybe...the Muslims put more emphasis on whats written in the quran than the OT...*thinking*...ive been all through the OT myself..and cant think of where im given instructions to 3 times a day...drop what im doing and turn towards mecca...or east if you will...drop on my carpet, kneel and pray for 15 mins...hmmm...that must be in the quran...

footnote...to all you muslims in our fine audience...if im wrong here...please IM me and get me straight...not you bootleg guys...but PRACTICING muslims...

Tender: it is strongly my beleif as well that muslims DO NOT serve the same God as the Jews, of the OT.
i do understand that the writing of both are very similar.
but to me, the God I serve is not the same they serve.

Tender, if this is because of the recent violent acts by some extremist muslim groups then please understand that the acts that have been carried out in the name of Allah are just as repulsive in the minds of the vast majority of muslims (even moreso in fact, as they are having their gods name being misused) as they are in the rest of the mainstream population.

Besides, it is not only muslims that have such problems - the N Ireland troubles have had plenty of bombings and murders in the name of Catholicism or Protestantism.
