This week I have been reading ethnographies and biographies of revolutionary figures, and one of them was Nelson Mandela's Long Walk to Freedom, where he detailed being circumcised en masse with an assegai (big fucking stick with a metal blade).

While he stated it was incredibly painful, I understood the need for ritual in his tribe and its significance as his own rite into manhood, and would definitely respect that process if reproducing into a similar religious/tribal structure.

P.S. I see there's another thread with a better poll, but, my same answer applies.
