    HEAVEN HELP US!

"Could it be -- could Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), the darling of the Tea Party right who has claimed to get her political marching orders directly from God, emerge as a sensational new entry into the presidential race?
    ABC News reports:
A source close to the three-term congresswoman said Bachmann will travel to Iowa this month for multiple meetings to seek advice from political forces there and party elders close to the caucus process before coming to a final decision regarding a potential presidential run. Bachmann, a native of Waterloo, Iowa, also is set to deliver a keynote speech at an Iowans for Tax Relief PAC fundraiser Jan. 21 in Des Moines, Iowa.

    ...

"Nothing is off the table," Bachmann chief of staff Andy Parrish told ABC News when asked whether the Iowa trip signaled Bachmann's intent to run for president. "The congresswoman is excited about her first trip to Iowa this year."

The GOP continues to not have a single serious candidate for contention.

PLEASE run. Keep mobilizing that whacked-out 27% of the American population while the rest of us watch, mouths agape, at their political trainwreck. Ditto to Palin/Bachmann 2012.

Why would a party not serious about leading this nation to a better place for its people produce serious candidates?

I don't understand the "not serious candidate" talk.

What is the difference between any governor or former governor in the Republican party and Clinton or Carter at the time of their respective presidential run?

Is there any possible senatorial candidate with less experience at being a senator than Obama?

I still stand by my prediction - Jeb Bush comes out of the woodwork to grab the nomination because all of the other candidates are so weak. Oh, and Palin never even runs at all - too much work.

The first part of the problem is that she isn't a governor or former governor. She's a lunatic Rep from a wacky district in Minnesota who ran a re-election campaign so full of mudslinging that my television will never be clean again.

The second part of the problem is she probably has less experience at doing her elected job than people claim Obama had at doing his.

The third problem - just look her up on youtube!

I say "not serious" because statistically, when you go by actual political achievements and public opinion polls, not a single GOP candidate that has been speculated about for running in 2012 has polled better than Obama in a sample election. Not even Hillary Clinton polled better than him in a three way battle with any GOP member. Election Polls - 2012 Presidential Election, Latest Political - Republican Candidate Poll - Tracking Current

Dissenters love to claim that "anyone is better", but as soon as that anyone becomes a someone the results don't equal the rhetoric. And Jeb Bush? If America won't re-elect a Clinton, there's no chance in heck that another Bush will win a presidential election so soon after what George put the nation through. So by all means, let Jeb grab the GOP nomination. As far as I'm concerned, that would ensure Obama gets another four years.

I'm gonna register as a Republican just so I could vote for this trainwreck as the GOP candidate.

    Heaven help us, indeed.

Even if I try and put aside my starkly opposing political and religious beliefs, Bachmann is an embarrassment. It's doubly depressing that she's a woman. Women continue to be underrepresented in positions of power in most fields, and Bachmann (and Palin) do nothing to promote any advance in this.
