once again, the GOP shows its true values of hypocrisy with the resignation of Chris Lee, congressman from New York. His ridiculous internet ad claimed he was single while actually married with children. The GOP has now officially lost its family values status and become the official 21st century icon of hypocrisy. what is especially nauseating is how the GOP , who moan about Obama's lack of regular church membership, wont even admit he is a better father figure than ANY male GOP candidate for president in 2012.Then, when Obama does address his religious values, such as the national prayer breakfast earlier this week, the GOP screams he is being too religious. What utter crap.

yep. the difference between the two is that a repub usually resigns and is shamed while a dem and their supporters will make excuses and do whatever thay can to hold their seat.

They had no values since the gay sex romps and such from some party members while married or being against gay rights.

Hardly. Maybe you can convince John Ensign, my fuck-anything-that-moves-except-his-wife Republican Senator from Nevada. :biggrin1:

Oh, and did I forget to mention that adulterer John just didn't go for a quick blow job in the White House? Nope. He pooned his friend's wife for six or sight months all the while insisting he is an Evangelical christianist who upholds, practices, and protects "family" values. Oh, 2012 will be yet another fun election year in Nevada.

That's the excuse Rush Limbaugh is using to deal with this scandal. It's also known as cognitive dissonance. By the way, you used the term "usually." That's a statistic. Where's your evidence for this? Or are you simply using selective memory?

Still, it's a red herring. The point isn't whether their careers are ruined; the point is whether they CHEAT. It wouldn't surprise me if Democrats had the "that's your business" approach, and left the cheaters to deal with the press and the wives they cheated on. After all, Republicans are the ones touting "family values" (code for Christian, heterosexual sex in marriage), so when they fail to live up to the rules they're always screaming about on Fox "News," it's pure hypocrisy. Their political leaders have no choice but to cut them loose so they can continue to use hatred and fear mongering (usually against gays) to win votes from idiots like you.

It matters more when Republicans are caught because they tout their party as the one to vote for if you want "traditional, conservative, family values" to become the law of the land.

This was unusually fast even for the Republicans. It almost doesn't seem like enough to justify a resignation. There must be something more to it that hasn't yet come to light.

Let's not forget Charlie Rangel's missteps, which in the grand scheme of things, were much worse that what Chris Lee did.

We haven't. But this thread isn't about Charles Rangel. And your attempt to divert the thread with more false equivalency has been noted. Besides, if you really want to weigh things based on severity we could always talk about Bush & Cheney for being war criminals. But again, this isn't about them either. This is about Christopher Lee, a hypocritical 46 year old married congressman who ran under the family values ticket, who trolled Craig's List pretending to be a 39 year old divorced man. Care to join us?

So, it's OK for the posters with your point of view and transfer the issue to John Ensign, Rush Limbaugh and "the Republicans", but I can't mention Rangel?

I dont believe Rangel ever spoke out about the kinds of things he was involved in, let alone made it the moral corner stone of his campaign or party. What he did was probably illegal, but it wasnt hypocritical.

Chris Lee on the other hand didn't do anything illegal. But he certainly was a hypocrite considering the Republicans stance on moral issues.

Personally, I think peoples personal lives should be kept private. I dont care what other people do in the bedroom as long as it isnt anything illegal. There was no reason Lee HAD to resign, other then the optics of the situation.

Can you even imagine the cruelty that will be inflicted upon his children? The wife may stand by his side, blah, blah, blah for whatever reason(s). The children have reason to be angry for two reasons: (1) their own personal suffering and (2) the sadness of seeing their mother's sorrow.
