I gotta say, I'd probably let Chris Lee give me a BJ.

But this actually reminds me of a personal experience I've had:

As completely unbelievable as this will probably sound, one of the first (and few) m4m sexual 'experiences' I've ever had was with a fairly high ranking (state level..not my state) Republican politician. Obviously at the time I didn't know it. All I knew is what he told me: he was a middle-aged married but curious businessman in town.

At the time I was very curious (sexually) and VERY much in the closet (I still am..but not in the same way) so I figured this would be a good time to explore yet remain very anonymous (i.e., he would leave town and never see me again).

We met at his hotel. He blew me. I blew my load. The End.

It wasn't until a few days later that I, out of curiosity, googled the number he had been calling and texting me from. Obviously it was some 'official' number because it led to his political site. It wasn't until I saw a picture of him that I really made the connection and figured out who he was.

This happened early last year. I still have the emails we exchanged and he still texts/emails me occasionally saying he's going to be in town but I've never arranged any kind of hookup or anything. Not that I wouldn't want to (he was moderately well hung but pretty thick), its just that if crap were to hit the fan, I'd rather not be somehow in it at all.

yep. the difference between the two is that a repub usually resigns and is shamed while a dem and their supporters will make excuses and do whatever thay can to hold their seat.

You are absolutely right. I find it bizarre that many liberals love to talk about Republican hypocrisy. Bad values are bad values regardless of politics. But many liberals seem to suggest that not having values in the first place is somehow preferred over having values and making mistakes... indeed, they call the latter, "hypocrisy." What do you say for those who don't even try???

This reminds me of one of my close friends who is deeply anti-Christian. Personally, I'm agnostic, so I don't have a horse in the race. But, this guy always gloats when a Christian public figure has a humiliating fall from grace. My questions are... "Why? What's the point? Do you hate Christians that much?" Personally, I find it sad. It's ironic that many people who claim to value tolerance are so blatantly hateful of those who hold different political, social or religious views.

I'll wager that you are not the only guy he is having sex with. Typically when the shit hits the fan there are a lot of "others" who come out of the woodwork. Some voluntarily, some not.

Forget hypocrisy. A married public official who posts pics of himself on Craigslist for the purpose of hooking up with someone automatically earns a darwin award and deserves to be ridiculed.

I suppose it's a sign of the economy really. In the 80's people could afford to pay to be discrete.

So, it's OK for the posters with your point of view and transfer the issue to John Ensign, Rush Limbaugh and "the Republicans", but I can't mention Rangel?

Oh by all means, mention whomever you want. However, the fact that you're trying to divert a thread about Christopher Lee with other non-related political figures is a major tell as to how limited your ability to think is and why you constantly project your partisan nonsense on those who think differently than you. Before I'm whatever you think or assume, I am an individual with my own beliefs and my own thoughts. It's your own fault that you can't look at people on this board and in politics as individuals but as only "Democrats" and "Republicans". The day you learn how to do this will be the day you'll be able to understand where I'm coming from. However, I don't see that day coming soon so I won't hold my breath.

Seriously... don't you get sick of looking at the world in binary?

"let alone made it the moral corner stone of his campaign or party"

Did he. I can't say one way or another... not going to bother w/ researching, but I noticed (esp here) that liberals think morals is the penultimate GOP issue. Last I checked, I can recall anyone who ran on morals as #1, much less #10.

Hypocrisy... is more like Al Gore talking about carbon footprints, yet living in a 20,000 sq ft home and waiting years after making his NUMBER ONE reason of existence, let alone politics about being green and caaaaarbon fooootprints and the earth is melting and so forth, in order for the multi-millionaire to really make any home improvements in that regard.

This is similar to when gay LPSGers shoot their wad all over themselves everytime a gay GOP guy comes out or gets 'caught'. HYPOCRISY!!HYPOCRISY!!HYPOCRISY!! Yeah, but by whom? Besides, that should then be the business between the poltician and his/her constituents. Obama still has Guantanamo open... I want/wanted to keep it open, I could in large gawky font in raving and drooling manner be the forum idiot... but that's between those whom voted for him on those grounds and the politician/administration.

Ah, the guide has been updated... see the 2008 Edition and look under Eliot Sptizer, but he broke the law pretty bad on that one and it was taxpayer money...so perhaps it isn't one/same, but ...that got him liberal news network gig :p

Apparently there are people on this thread that lack the ability to hold people accountable as individuals yet want to blame others who do just that for hypocrisy. They think broad generalizations and desperate attempts to draw equivalencies between people shows more objectivity, while those who go past the labels and go through the details of each case are in the wrong. It's really sad when adults can't display adult level thinking.

That may be a simple matter of survival of the fittest... but the Q Scores and the ratings will be the final judge of that. If the tax payers and the US had every cent squandered by politicians the country would not have a deficit. I would rather pay his ride on a prostitute than the bill we've all been footing without benefit of a goodnight kiss for the last 30 years.

I thought the powers that be had taken action last week that was supposed to make the politics forum more civil.

In the spirit of the new policies, Vinyl Boy's comments about Lurker 37160 in thread #26 are out of line.

In the spirit of the new policies, Vinyl Boy's comments about Lurker 37160 in thread #26 are out of line.

How so?
Lurker37160 implied that I was trying to ignore the actions of other politicians based on political affiliation. He does this because he (and so many others like him) have only view me as a "gay liberal" for the last two years. After several years of false accusations made by people like Lurker37160 and others about me and after many times trying to show them otherwise, I don't feel the need to scribe my statements towards these people in a PC manner.

Also, if you want to talk about new policies, derailing threads with off topic posts is also out of line. Therefore, discussions about Charles Rangel, Rush Limbaugh, or whether or not he thinks I was trying to limit his ability to talk about them on a thread about Christopher Lee are irrelevant.

Lastly, sarcasm is not out of bounds or a means for dismissal from LPSG. If you don't like my tone, you can put me on ignore. Plain and simple. But the post you are pointing out of mine does not break the ToS. Now can we get back to talking about Christopher Lee, or is this thread going to become another dungeon of binary level thinking and the usual Bloods versus Crips political posturing?

In a thread discussing the misdeeds of a public figure, it is not so far off topic to compare and contrast them with other politicians. Nor is it wrong to say that such comparisons are nonsense. Sarcasm is ok is well. These types of exchanges will not precipitate any action from the moderators. But if the thread turns into a personalized slugfest, we will act.

On topic, I don't know this congressman, but it's pretty bizarre behavior. How did he think this wouldn't be discovered?

No Vinylboy you just need to realize and accept that its not just republicans its both. Ahh shall we bring out the democratic ring leader of values the one and only John Edwards. The 2 america's poster boy. 2 America's alright. Be honest and stop using the new buzz words of false equaviliacy its really annoying especially when you are wrong.

No Vinylboy you just need to realize and accept that its not just republicans its both.

And I do. We could easily post a list of Democrats and Republicans right now that have all been unfaithful and/or cheated on their wives. The fact is, people like you see these threads and the people who respond negatively to one politician, then instantly assume that the responders are either too partisan or somehow have given the other side a pass. That's your fault and not mine. Do you expect every thread that appears on LPSG about infidelity to be an in depth review of everyone's escapades? Is it necessary for people to repeat information that is readily available on this board with a simple search on the subject matter just to give you or any other person the contextual illusion of bipartisanship? Again, your problem and not mine.

But one thing is for certain... you should stop assuming you know what I'm going to say or do around here. My beliefs and my actions are two entirely different things, and although they may intertwine they are not always equal.

YAWN. Nobody, not including the most liberal of faces on this board forgot about John Edwards. Your disingenuousness approach about mentioning him like people somehow forgot that he cheated on his wife while she was pregnant and with Cancer is ridiculous. However, since you want to play another game of false equivalency here, let's use facts and list the names from the most recent political sex scandals and put some numerical values to the rhetoric that's now going around in this thread -

Republican Sex Scandals - Republican Sex Scandals - dKosopedia
2011 - Christopher Lee
2010 - NRCC (National Republican Congressional Committee), RNC, Roy Ashburn
2009 - Mike Duvall, Paul Stanley, Mark Sanford, John Ensign, Alan David Berlin, Chip Pickering
2008 - Bruce Barclay, Matthew Joseph Elliott, Vito Fossella, Robert McKee, Daniel Dean Thompson, Derek Walker
2007 - Robert "Bob" Allen, John David Roy Atchison, E. Ozwald Balfour, John Bryan, Larry Craig, John R. Curtin, Richard Curtis, Donald Fleischman, Larry Dale Floyd, Ted Klaudt, Joseph M. McDade, Patrick Lee McGuire, Joseph Monteleone Jr., Glenn Murphy Jr., Armando Tebano, David Vitter, Newt Gingrich

Also, here is an article that goes into detail not only the amount of recent scandals, but breaks it down to the type of sex scandal and the amount of times a case emerged within the ranks of either party - Chris Lee Shirtless: GOP Trumps Democrats in Sex Scandals - The Daily Beast

And there's also the list of politicians who were caught displayed briefly on Real Time last Friday. The Republican list was considerably longer than the other. Once I can find a video clip, I'll do a screen capture and list the names that were included in the scroll.

So really, do these things happen equally across the board? Do Democrats and Republicans cheat on their wives, go after interns or solicit sex from escorts at the same amount? Despite the relative ease of finding cases from either side, the answer is no. Now you can choose to believe this or not. You can also believe in unicorns. However, without providing any numbers, websites or facts to the table to dispute what I've just listed, this the only thing we can go by for a counterargument is your opinion... and in a game of politics, that means nothing without solid facts to back them up.

Your turn.

On topic, I don't know this congressman, but it's pretty bizarre behavior. How did he think this wouldn't be discovered?

What's even more ironic is that Chris Lee was an advocate towards informing people about the dangers of posting personal information and photos on the internet. He warned folks about being careful what you put online. - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/02/10/christopher-lee_n_821289.html

So it's not like he didn't know. Or was it? Either way, it's still pretty laughable that he would get caught doing the very things he told others not to do.

I've done that numerous times around here. My post history reflects it. Look it up.
I may not criticize Democrats enough to your liking, but I'm not here to satisfy your political hunger or tell you what you want to hear either. So get over it.

Yeah, you're almost certainly right. I'm sure there are others.

And, in my opinion, I think its only a matter of time til the shit hits the fan. I'm sure I wasn't the first, and probably not the last person he texted using that cell number. Someone is bound to connect the dots. And depending on the source of the phone (if its his personal phone or one that was issued to him..not sure how that works in state-level politics) I wouldn't doubt that someone has the ability to read those text messages remotely.

values of hypocrisy?!?!
Cruztbaby, I believe I know what you're trying to say, but it would have been hypocritical of the Repubs to have kept him on ...

as far as Obama, I believe I should respond only after
I stop rolling on the floor laughing

once again, the GOP shows its true values of hypocrisy with the resignation of Chris Lee, congressman from New York. His ridiculous internet ad claimed he was single while actually married with children. The GOP has now officially lost its family values status and become the official 21st century icon of hypocrisy. what is especially nauseating is how the GOP , who moan about Obama's lack of regular church membership, wont even admit he is a better father figure than ANY male GOP candidate for president in 2012.Then, when Obama does address his religious values, such as the national prayer breakfast earlier this week, the GOP screams he is being too religious. What utter crap.
