Has anyone else been watching CSPANs coverage of these townhall meetings republicans have been holding? This is some of the funniest shit I've seen on CSPAN since... ever! These people are PISSED! They don't really seem to know much about what they are pissed about, but that doesn't stop them from grabbing the mic and yelling at their Reps. I live in a red state and my Rep is holding a town hall next week. I wasn't going to go before, but now I am going now. If for nothing else than the simple entertainment value. As much as I hope the people in my district know something about what their government has been doing, I am equally hoping that bubba and skeeter go for the mic and scream about the sky rocketing deficit (which is fallen at record rates) or how Obama care has been killing them and needs to be defunded (even though it doesn't get implemented till next year and defunding it won't really do anything) or whatever else they have.

And when I ask if you have seen the meetings I mean the actual meetings on CSPAN unfiltered, not FOX's or MSNBC's cut outs with their "Politcs for Dummies" segments where they tell you what opinions you are suppose to have.

We've come to expect this from the RWNM. It would be amusing if they didn't have such control over Congress. They're a small group, but loud as hell.

I think it's so funny how much these guys are getting to you. Hilarious.

Oh come on HM. Even you gotta find some of these town halls a little funny.

True. It is disturbing the level of influence these rage addicts have within the party, but it does help explain some of the actions (or inactions) of the house if this is the kind of home coming they get. Doesn't excuse their disfunction by any means, but does explain it.

the wackadoodles who run the GOP congressional district town hall meetings are all seriously mentally ill.

and they make WONDERFUL CSPAN reality show viewing; quite better than other broadcast or cable networks.

they reflect many GOP voters: fat, white, male, protestant, ignorant and in love with their guns.

and every year, more and more of them die off due to heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

Darwin's lesser known theory of natural defection at work.

Almost as funny as someone who thinks the Tea Party has been active the last 200 years... oh wait.

Almost as funny as someone who thinks the Tea Party has been active the last 200 years... oh wait.

I never said it was active for 200 years, I said it "has been around for over 200 years in one form or another". Every so often, a group of people (who paid attention in american history class) who don't like something about their government takes up the name of the tea party, adds their complaints to the message, and the movement is born anew.

The current version started when Hank Paulson, with Bush's blessing, bailed out the banks while leaving the average American to rot. It didn't gain any media attention until '08 when the ignorant (and loud) bigots took over screaming about the "muslim terrorist from Kenya" becoming president.

Anyway, back to the townhalls. According to articles I saw in "Slate" and the "Huffington Post", the Republican Campaign Commitee is handing out packets called "fighting washington for all americans" to members of congress describing how to manage their towns halls. A "playbook" if you will. Should the people start getting too rowdy and start screaming about the congressman, this packet shows them how to try to redirect that anger towards Obama. As ridiculous as this sounds, I have noticed that when the crowd turns on the Rep they start trying to blame whatever the people are yelling about on the Obama administration and it works.
