Researching family history / tree (question for UK / England LPSG members)

My father and his siblings.. they often like to grandstand and brag, and such bragging includes stories of my family's supposed history. When I say "supposed", the events are verifiable facts, but I am not sure how accurate my family's connection to the events are or are not.

I have a question for the UK members, is there a good online source of information regarding the "Featherstone Castle" in Northumberland, England? I've done a google search but the results are overwhelming, which isn't helped at all by the fact that "Featherstone" is probably one of the most plain jane sounding English names on the planet (no, it is not in fact Native American by any means). I'm working on my family tree from the bottom to the top (haha I made a top and bottom reference) from the American angle, however, without understanding the history of the occupants of this dwelling, I won't be able to do much to work from the top to the bottom (haha another top and bottom reference) from the England angle towards connecting the two sides somewhere in the middle. For privacy, I will not explain my supposed connection to this castle through my family. I'm just looking for a great online resource explaining this dwelling's history / occupants in history. Thanks much in advance.

I also cannot believe I'm asking about this on a forum about big dicks, but I do know there are many UK members here and I'll appreciate the help from ya'll :)

Don't know if the short chapter in this book might be of interest, I have ancestors on estates in Yorkshire that are mentioned in various pedigree books uploaded to archive.org so there might be other similar ones for Northumberland.

The book of Wallace : Rogers, Charles, 1825-1890. cn : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive

Not sure if it covers the years you're after, but an obvious source for finding occupants is the England & Wales census which was taken every 10 years from 1841 - you can sign up and view them up to 1921 via sites such as Ancestry, Find my Past etc. (though 1921 itself is only on the latter at the moment)

Also if it's the name itself you may find something of use on this site - Featherstone One Name Study: Featherstone One Name Study

A good forum for advice is also Rootschat, which has a section for Northumberland here
